This 2 parter was fantastic! I echo all of your previous commenters (nice to see a few oldschool friends/writers from BtVS fandom) and expound upon your talent; how you expertly wove the strands of their previous lives into this current, thoughtful tale of regret, culminating on Buffy's 27th birthday reunion with her Angel. Semby gave you a very good premise and you fulfilled it brilliantly - especially as this is your virgin foray! You caught the nuances of these characters' voices and coaxed them to divulge their private lives after the fall of Wolfram & Hart. I loved Buffy & Faith's internal Slayer imperative to hunt, impossible to ignore. The tone & pacing of this fic was spot-on (only a very few typos - sorry, I was an English major) but mostly it was great because it's SO believable! No deux ex machina to miraculously save Angel's team members in the alley. Angel's gypsy curse not magicked away (however Willow IS prolly one of, if not The most powerful witch/es in all the worlds). Spike's dusting after saving Gunn. The titian wiccan's absence was one of two pieces of this ficpuzzle that surprised me because I believe that the dark ensouled vampire's reappearance after 5 years of supposed death would have definitely induced at least an astral projection cameo to comfort her bestie. The other puzzler is the primary Slayer's "Angelsense", so much fanfic has utilized this canon trope to explain how our fave supernatural couple "feels" their soulmate's presence. If Angel had truly met his Final Death I'm convinced that his true love would have felt his absence from our plane of existence in her soul. Similarly, the blonde Slayer should've felt the echo of his soul in Pennsylvania. They sensed each other when living two hours away from each other in California, there's no reason for both of them to have been shocked that they each lived in the east coast state. Unless... your intent was to indicate how truly each had consciously excised the other from their hearts - or the possibility that their bond had dissipated in the ensuing years to nothingness. Anyway, I've sung your praises, am declaring myself a fanfic fan of yours and am truly sorry I hadn't discovered this fic sooner. Please let me know if you've continued to write in this fandom, and, if so, where your fic can be found (I found this on a fic rec list). I'll definitely R&R as RL allows. I sincerely thank you for taking up the mantle of the Buffy/Angel legacy and hereby induct you (if endowed with the power to do so) into its Fanfic Hall of Fame. Thanks for keeping their love alive - Buffy & Angel 4ever! ~Shirl
