1. What was the first video game you have ever played?
Duck Hunt and Gyromite on the old NES. >_>; I grew up in a geek household, what can I say?
2. What was your first console?
Uhhh. NES and the old black and white Game Boy. Yes, the one you could brain people with before they got small. Besides the Game Boy, the first one that ended up "mine" and in my room was a Genesis-CDX. (I was SLOOOWWWW to go to the newer consoles there.)
3. Have you ever visited a video game arcade?
Yep! I usually hit the light gun games mostly.
4. What was your first handheld?
....The old Game Boy. The huge one. XD
5. What was the first game you've beaten/cleared completely? (Got to the last level/got 100%/beat high score, etc.)
I...THINK either Gyromite or the old gold-cartridge Zelda. Zelda's the first one I remember clearly doing that to.
6. Games based off of real sports: Yay or Nay?
KILL IT WITH FIRE.
7. Online games: Yay or nay?
... ... ... ...
*whistling and haloing*
I'm doing endgame raiding in World of Warcraft. >_>; And uh, lately, that's how I get together with my family, since they're in the guild too. I get a little blarghed when single-player console games have this "Oh, there's this that isn't a big part of the game it's just a hidden shiney but you can only get it by playing online!". I was overseas in Germany all summer and live in Anchorage, you THINK my poor WEWY pins get any Mingle PP?
8. Do you play any Massively Multiplayer Online RPG games? (MMORPGs?)
...............
*what's that icon again? >_>; *
9. Do you play any virtual pet games? (Neopets, Teripets, Aftermathzone, etc.)
Wajas! I was on Neopets for a while but the borked up economy and "My god, you can't take two days off for a plane flight or everything's starving ._."
10. Puzzle games and Strategy games: Yay or Nay?
Not too much on puzzle games unless I'm REALLY bored...
Strategy games yes, although not that often.
11. Do you play any RPGs?
Tabletop, console, LJ-fandom, or MMO? Oh wait, all of the above!
Yeah, I'm an RPG geek.
12. Do you play any Platformer games?
...While I'm not as fond of the genre, I am a Castlevania junkie.
13. What was the first game/console/handheld of yours that stopped working?
To my knowledge, the only one that no longer works is the old Game Boy mace.
Characters/Plot
14. Do you actually care if a game has a plot or do you just play games for the gameplay?
I'll play games just for the gameplay, but I really do prefer a plot.
And I will lit-geek over the plot as well as geek over it.
15. Name a few video game characters that are your favorites.
Hmmmmm...Well, besides the ones I've ended up fandom RP'ing?
Half the cast of Legend of Mana, I am weirdly amused by the Turks from FFVII, Albel Nox from Star Ocean, Katsuya from Persona 2, Peter from Shining Force 2, and... uh... so I still have accounts open using Atolm's name from Panzer Dragoon Saga.
16. Name a few series that are your favorites
Final Fantasy...
Star Ocean, Shin Megami Tensei, Castlevania, Devil May Cry, Silent Hill...
17. Has a video game ever made you cry?
... ... Phantasy Star IV. I was like...ten. ._. Considering that it got stellar reviews and I picked it up after hearing people squee about the game and I KNOW there's still a fandom despite it being ANCIENT, I just sorta want to go "O_O" at people who reference AEris's death with "OMG it's so new and novel and for a game to set someone up as a major character and kill them off not even halfway through without warning like that! That must be the first time it happened!"
EDIT: Oh right, and Nei in Phantasy Star II had the "MY GOD THEY KILLED THE WOOBIE! OUT OF NOWHERE! AS PLOT AND YOU -CAN'T- BRING HER BACK!!" distinction looong before Aeris.
18. Has a video game character annoyed you so much that you wanted him removed from the game?
I always consider Roger in Star Ocean 3 excessively puntable, but I can't say it was a "OMG I WISH HE WAS NEVER CREATED!" thing.
19. Do you "pair" or "ship" characters up with one another? (make/create/write romance involving them)
Not...really?
I mean, I guess there's a few things (... most of them canonly set-up pairings) that I'd "support", and I'm amused by some fanwork of such, but I don't really pay as much attention to that kind of thing as most of fandom.
20. Do you write video game fanfiction?
Yep. Thou I'm still not sure what to do with the Sly Cooper mess I wrote during a couple weeks while high on codeine and cold meds where I KNOW I at -least- screwed things up from chapter to chapter and don't know what I was doing anymore.
21. Do you draw video game fanart?
Yep. not always finished, so there's a lot of doodles, but I do.
22. Do you come up with theories on how a character came to be/what he or she would do in a situation/why he or she is moody/etc.
...............................................
That's kind-of where a good chunk of my serious fanfiction comes from. >_>; And the topic of writer-geeking trying to figure it out.
23. Are you a "fanboy" or "fangirl" of any character?
Uhhhmmm...
In the "OMG <3 I find them attractive!!" sense? ... ... not so much, though I did latch onto Kuja for a while. (... ... I'm still not sure where that came from, even if he's still perfectly happily resident in a chunk of my skull.)
In the "I latch onto this character and am overly entertained by/have muses of/etc."? ...hellyeah.
Boss Battles/Villains
24. Hardest Boss Battle
... Trying to remember the last boss to make me go "AIGH I WEEP TEARS OF BLOOD".
I think right now it goes to my attempts at playing Castlevania:Rondo of Blood, which is Old-School hard. ._.
25. Most Frustrating Boss Battle
...Did I mention I haven't gotten past the second chapter in that?
Right now I could also nominate a couple raid bosses in WoW... I kinda hate Morogrim. >_>;
26. Most Rewarding Boss Battle
... ... *headspinnie*
It's kinda been a while since I've done the "omg throw controller in air and celebrate" bit...
Though uh, there will be much squealing and high-pitched noises and victory dances etc. when we get Kael'thas down. (No, we're not a very "OMG HARDCORE!!" raid guild. :P )
27. Funnest Boss Battle
Damn near anything in Okami. I <3 that game.
28. Most Boring Boss Battle
... ... There were a couple Star Ocean 2 fights where, after much flailing, I walkedd away to get a drink and let the AI handle it. :|
29. Boss Battle that dragged out for a long, long time
Uhhhhh.... .... ... Not counting any raid boss fight in WoW that goes until you get respawns...
...
Well, the Profound Darkness in PSIV was my first experience with multi-phase bosses. :|
30. Boss Battle with the coolest music
Kuja's end music in Final Fantasy IX. (HAH!! I bet you expected me to point at One Winged Angel, eh?)
31. Most Surprising Boss Battle
Not counting when I was ten and had the "... IT'S NOT DEAD YET?!" with the Profound Darkness...
You know, I can think of -surprises- but nothing that sticks out too terribly right now.
( ";AKJSF;ASKFJ;SA WHAT I DON'T HAVE ANYBODY he just did what to Josh buh?" - the last fight in WEWY might be it so far. :| )
32. What's your all time favorite villain?
Anything that says "all time favorite" is MAKING ME CHOOSE BETWEEN BABIES okay?
... Put your hand down Kuja, you're not the only one I'd put on the list, you're just the egomaniac.
33. What's your all time least favorite villain?
..................IDK, can't think of...
Well, right now, Higashizawa from WEWY's in the running. >_>;;;
Some part of me wants to say Yami no Mikaboshi from Okami just because, all that buildup and the incarnation of all evil is basically a foetus in a morphing hamster-ball? But it was still a fun fight.
34. Do you ever feel sorry for the villains?
Mmyep. I still consider them responsible for/accountable for their actions, but yeah.
35. Are there any villains that seem like they should be playing for the good guys, but aren't?
<.< >.> Yes.
36. Most malicious villain?
Dahlia Gillespie ranks pretty high for me. (Silent Hill, spoiler alert) I mean...damn...torturing and burning alive your own daughter to create a hellish alternate reality and force her to be the host for a demon so you can get power? Then torturing her while she's burned and half-comatose? Daaamn.
37. Most surprising villain?
*refraining from Kuja "wait, that's a guy?" jokes*
.. ... I know there's ones I want to quote, but apparently I'm just having a jaded day.

41. What's your favorite next-gen game? (Gamecube/PS2/X-Box)
...I'm gonna say Okami though really it's another "choosing babies. :|" category. >_>;
42. Sequels/long series: Yay or nay?
As long as they either keep up the plot, or at least make it so that you're not playing the same game over and over again with a different coat of paint. (... this is actually why I keep pondering pOkemon D/P and not buying them... ... I stopped playing around Ruby because I got -bored- that it was the same game with the same plot with slightly different Pokemon each time and a few new side-things here and there. >_>;; )
43. What's your favorite Online Game?
>_> *point at icon*

... Yes.
48. Name a game that you like but everyone else seems to hate.
Legend of Dragoon.
49. Name a character that you like but everyone else seems to hate.
I refuse to get involved in the Aeris/Tifa fandom war. Also, Kuja and Eiko from FFIX.
50. Name a game that you hate but everyone else seems to like.
I don't really like most of the Resident Evil series.
51. Name a character that you hate but everyone else seems to love.
>_>;;; Uhhhh...
I'm bad at -hating- characters.
Miscellaneous
52. Have you ever stopped before you finished a game because it was too frustrating to go on?
A couple times. I'll try again sometimes buutt...
I'm not sure I'm ever gonna finish Rondo of Blood - I am not l337 enough at platformers for it.
53. Will you stop at NOTHING to get 100% in a video game?
... ... There are very few games I'll do that for. Usually I get distracted or feel like it's not worth the effort with what some of them expect you to do.
54. Have you ever injured yourself at a video game? (Space Invader wrist and Mario Party 1 blister victims may answer yes)
Not...REALLY... I managed to make my wrist hurt trying to raid on WoW with the touchpad on the laptop, and there's the time me and a roommate got competitive and ended up slumped next to the DDR Machine all "...arms...like...noodles...everything...hurts".
...Oh wait. Mom insists that this was a close call: There was this fighter-jet sim game at an arcade in the Hague we hit up; it had a spherical pod you got in, and a seatbelt, and the pod would rotate/etc. mimicking the plane on screen. I went drunken-fly for a while getting used to the controls, but that was fine. The thing was, at the end of the round, it did the score screen, I was upside down, the computer took over controls and the little plane on screen righted itself... the pod didn't, and it went into that lovely bit of "three seconds of graphics/music looping etc." that happens when computers freeze up and die. I hit the emergency-off button to shut it off and right it a few times, but the sucker was so frozen it needed a hard reset. Around when the tech came over worried and asked what was wrong, I was actually about to click off the seatbelt and hop out to go get him myself. (Yes, I was upside down, but I was prepared and it wasn't as bad a drop/roll as some things I did when I was taking Tae Kwon Do.)
55. Has a horror/survival genre video game scared you to the point that you refused to finish the game? Did you get nightmares from said game?
I ran away from Seventh Guest on the computer once (ooold game) because I was downstairs in a dark room alone and the room full of talking dolls crying in the voices of children spooked me. (was also 12 or so, gofig.) I finished it though.
I also had an incident with trying to play Silent Hill IV in a dark, empty house when my parents were out running errands, with surround sound speakers etc., when I was off my ass on cold meds... ... but I went back to it later.
56. Have you ever thrown a controller/disc/cartridge in a fit of frustration?
>.>;
57. Do you need to blow/clean certain games to get them to play?
Yep.
58. Have you ever played a game for so long that you missed sleep over it?
Panzer Dragoon Saga. Dad walked in - "....Are you awake already?" "....already?"
59. Were you ever involved in the Pokemon craze?
You young whippersnappers! I was playing Pokemon when it was just these two wierd pseudo-RPG's on game boy that just came out! And I couldn't even get a cartridge at first, I had to find a Japanese ROM because an English one didn't exist yet! And when I got to order a copy of Blue, I had to walk uphill to get it! Both ways! In snow! Through Autobahn traffic!
60. Last but not least: Do you picture yourself playing video games 10, 20, or 30 years from now?
Yes? >_>;;;
