I have absolutely no experience with cars but I have always liked the look of the Mazda. Plus it is named after a Persian god if I am not mistaken (Ahura Mazda) so that must count for something.
As for a name...... how about Sam? Solid, trustworthy and loyal :)

My previous car was a 1993 Nissan Altima, which I'd had for nine years with almost no problems. A lovely car, but the newer ones were out of my price range.

My ex-husband and I owned a Mazda Protege - but I couldn't drive it because it was a standard. But....I loved it. And I think that's what my next car will be (I've got a Ford Escort now). So, yes. You'll be happy with the Mazda.
