The Upside of Monday

It's a muggy night as rain had pounded the neighborhood, steadily, for most of the day.

Jun waits for Hippolyta in the deck-garden behind the kitchen of the Snack J. The place is furnished with second-hand furniture, tubs of plants and stands of trailing vines. An Elf child lives with Jun and his way with plants and nature has turned the small back area into a marvel.

A light shines from the glass pane in the kitchen door. The head and shoulders of a slender, lanky young man with wild hair can be seen through the glass. He appears to be talking animatedly. He wears a baseball cap and an apron.

Jun sits on the swing chair, a two-seater. She's got what looks like a two-pound ball of interlocking chains of varying gauges in her hands. She's moving links around and tossing the ball in the air. There's a pitcher of beer on the low table beside her. Skewers of shrimp lay across a charcoal brazier.
