family weekend

So this past weekend was fun! Sarah Sorci is moving to Virginia to pursue studies in agriculture, & Chris & Judy threw a going-away party for her. Somehow we crammed 80 people into one house.. I'm still not sure how we managed o_o
Friday night after Jesse got home from work, we left for the 2-hour drive in his car. The whole way there, we talked about my character for his Star Wars campaign, which is coming along nicely. We had a great time reminiscing about old campaigns like his GURPS planes campaign junior year. I'm kinda sad not everyone who was in that is still in The Pack, but people change. It's amazing that after so many years making the trip I still get excited butterflies in my stomach once I see the Silver Creek exit that comes before Dunkirk/Fredonia. I think I always will feel like that. Anyway, when we arrived at the house Chris, Judy, Penny, & Granny were staying up waiting for us cos they were so excited to see us again after 6 months! It felt so good to be welcomed back, especially with Jesse's parents. They love me so much, lol. Granny asked if we were married yet, but kept calling me Jackie (Penny became Tina too xD)! Nobody knows where she got those names, but she's a sweet, senile old lady so we forgive her. The party was the next evening, so after everyone got caught up we all went to bed so we could be up early for party prep. It's funny, the family acts like we're already married, & when Jesse was telling his parents how the birth went he referred to me as my wife when describing how his boss told him to be with me & not worry about work. It felt.. Really nice. I guess we're so comfortable around eachother now that we're like Ian & Sheila; just an old couple who've been together a lonnnng time. Someday (:
I certainly drank my weight in ale, & had a great time chatting with family friends, singing with the band, & just shooting the shit. I somehow didn't even get a buzz, despite the numerous drinks & vodka-soaked cherries, but I can't complain!
The band was playing Pink Floyd covers til 6:30am, which was awesome even tho I fell asleep on a chair near the woodstove. We woke up & headed back to Rochester with more Star Wars backstory on the way. Overall, it was wonderful. I already miss Chris & Judy!

friends, family
