You know what my biggest shipping pet peeve is? Out of character-ness in pairings. I don't care if you like writing your character getting it up the butt, or character A is into bondage, or stuff like that, if the character acts completely out of character in romance/smut fics? If I'm able to change their names, there's something wrong with your story (though sometimes it's because I can see other characters doing the same thing- that's another reason entirely and doesn't involve this.)
So, let's take miss Esmeralda's stories for example, since she's a prime victim of this. All of her fanfics might as well come out of original fantasy Harlequin novels which all names could easily be replaced. None of them had any canon character behave the way they do in their original source, which makes you wonder if she really is the canon crusader she claims to be.
In short? I hate OoC-ness in pairings. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
