Except that they *would* have those relationships, and are probably having them off-screen even during the canon.

See?! That's exactly the kind of attitude I'm talking about! These fans have no respect for canon to say things like that!

So liking the canon means closing your eyes to the implications within said canon?

No, it means taking them at face value and not trying to twist them into something they're not. Unless I like the pairing.

Oh come on. That's like saying that because the only toilets visible in FFVI were in the prison cells in Ghestal, people travel from miles away to take a piss.

Must you be vulgar?!

Okay, fine, that is a little vulgar (I could have been a lot worse, mind you), yet I still stand by it. Just because something doesn't happen "on screen" in the canon doesn't mean it couldn't have and/or didn't happen at all.

Perfect example: in the Sailormoon manga during the Black Moon saga Takeuchi-sensei makes it quite clear that Mamoru and Usagi share an intimate moment (you can almost hear the Barry White cueing up in the background), and even though you don't see it happen, you know it happened.

That game was a hardcore trailblazer for showing toilets. Other people are too scared of how 'dirty' they are.
