Don't ever say you've no one to help you out. We may not always have a ladder with us, but we can at least keep you company while we hunt one down for you.

It's important to remember that setbacks aren't the opposite of progress, but part of it. If you're not moving forward, there are no setbacks; and if you're moving forward without any setbacks, watch the hell out, you're being taken in!

If nothing else, setbacks keep us from racing ahead faster than we're ready for. It's weird to think of it that way, because you get tired of the way things ARE and feel you're ready for better NOW, but we never remember how hard the shock would be if better happened suddenly. Throw in a couple of setbacks, and things a)slow down enough that you've got time to adjust as the change happens, and b)become more valuable to you as you fight to achieve them (see also trust fund babies: getting everything on a silver platter makes you value none of it).

Yeah, it may leave you feeling tired and stuck in a hole. It's cold consolation, but don't let yourself forget, even for a second, that the hole you're in NOW is not as deep as the LAST hole.
