And Now Look At Me.
It was a normal cloudy day in Japan. Seungri had just finished rehearsing his moves for his self-promotion tour and felt like taking a walk. He stepped out dressed in dark colours with a hat and glasses to cover his identity, waving off his manager with a “they won’t recognize me here, but they will soon!”

It wasn’t so bad here though; he really liked Japan. He liked being able to get lost in the crowds sometimes. Sometimes, he just needs that break. He needs to be able to be just Lee Seunghyun, instead of the mask he and BigBang created as Seungri, the maknae of BigBang.

He thought about his hyungs back in Korea. JiYo---GD and Seunghyun were recording their second album, TaeYang was working on his own album with Teddy-hyung and Daesung was busy working as a TV show host. He was here in Japan on his own, doing his album promotion.

Everyone was off doing their own thing. Did we even need each other anymore? BigBang was a nice startup and everyone definitely gained a lot from it, but everyone seemed to be getting busier on their own and sooner or later, the band would probably dissolve. Why share the fame now that everyone is famous in their own right?

Seungri bought a coffee at small café and sat outside, sipping slowly, watching all the people pass by.

It was nice to just sit there, to enjoy the weather, enjoy a hot cup of coffee. Be nobody, in a large city such as Tokyo.

Sometimes he wondered what would have happened had he not taken that second chance.

He remembered the disappointment that flooded his body when he didn’t make that first cut.

He remembered President YG giving him a second chance, but a very difficult second chance.

He remembered getting on that bus back to Gwanju, back to his small hometown, where everyone waiting for him to come back to announce that he was becoming an idol.

He remembered Yongbae being the only one there for him; while his other hyungs were sobbing over Hyunseun’s defeat, thinking that he’d prove them all wrong.

He would prove them wrong.

That he would be the maknae of the group.

That he was wanted and needed in the group.

And now look at me. Look at us. Seungri smiled in irony. We did become that group. We became bigger than just singers and dancers in a boy band. They were not only singers and dancers. They were fashion icons. They were innovators. They were idols.

And for what? All the practice and the singing and the concerts that they put on. He was missing his family, missing his friends, missing his hometown. He’s become Seungri, the maknae of the idol group BigBang. Seungri who was the youngest, the most naïve, the joker. Seungri who was now the Strong Baby of the group. Seungri, Seungri Seungri.

Where did Lee Seunghyun go?

A ringing startled him from his musings. His manager was calling. Probably to hound him about not getting drunk or something. He wasn’t stupid. He knows it’s a bad idea. Seungri presses the button to hang up on his manager. He just needs a bit more time.

Instead, he pulls out another phone that he doesn’t usually use, and dials a number, waiting for the person on the other end to pick up.

“Hey umma, are you busy this weekend?”
