Like sometimes there doesn't seem to be a reason, even though with these two, I'm sure we could always find a reason. But psychologically speaking it's great that he doesn't know and she's not all 'let's talk about it,' it's just, let's try something else, and get you there.
I didn't go into a big reason for it because sometimes it does just happen, but I can see now that that's what you probably were aiming for with the prompt? I was more concerned with the hmm awkward physicality of the moment and how she could help him. They can talk later. ;p

Also, next to the let's fuck, y/y? note from the previous fic, this is probably my favorite Damon inner monologue bit ever:

I wonder if he's carving that into park benches around town. And I love that he calls it his 'new buddy' like, is that who replaced Alaric??? LOLOL.
