It's the middle of the night here and I can't sleep so I thought I'd comment. Like most people, their mothers have probably taught them that "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Since my Mom has long since passed, I'm going to tell you possibly why nobody has commented.
A) You've ripped off Penmill’s story.
B)You have NO idea how we talk here in Great Britain and clearly haven’t done enough research. I’ve lived in various places in England my whole life and I can assure you that no one calls each other “Big cluck” (What exactly IS a big cluck??) Nor do we call each other "doofus." I asked my friends if they've ever called each other these things or heard of them, and they looked at me like I was mad. C) "Big Ben" ?? If my husband referred to himself as "Big Ben" I wouldn't be able to stop laughing and that would be the end of it. There is also such thing as too much graphic detail.
Also, whomever your beta was probably wouldn’t appreciate your mentioning why he/she had to stop “editing” your story. It’s nobody’s business why they had to stop but I honestly can’t blame them.
I'm very sorry if this is harsh, and I don't know you, but you did ask. Post away if you like, but I'm done with this story. Back to bed I go.

Wow! Where do I begin. I gave myself some time to cool off. My emotions have been running between extremely hurt and extremely pissed off. Who Do You Think You Are to tell me I ripped someone off? You don't know me. You have no right to make any assumptions or accusations toward me. I will come back to this particular subject later.
Let me address some of your other concerns first. You told me I had no idea how people in Great Britain talk. I agree, I live in the United States. You said I clearly did no research. I disagree. I took the time to Google British slang to make it more authentic, and that is where I found those names you found so appalling, such as doofus and cluck which basically means silly stupid person.
Then you mentioned my terminology for Hugh's third leg, which was Big Ben. The fact that you found this laughable, was kind of the point! Duh. If you were to go back and read the first 16 chapters comments from 12 years ago you would see that everybody praised this story. They loved it, they loved the sex scenes, they loved big Ben as a name. They loved everything. I'm not trying to brag, I'm just saying that's why I felt so compelled to finish the story and why I felt so bad that I left it unfinished. And then to work so hard for so many months to finish this story and then to get this kind of review, it stings.
Your next point was that it was much too graphic. Obviously you're talking about the sex scenes. I don't know what to say other than it was clearly marked from the beginning as a mature content story with graphical sexual content. If you are not into that kind of thing then you should be reading the G-rated stories.
Next you said that you don't think my betta would appreciate the fact that I published the fact that she had to quit due to family medical concerns. What I don't understand, is how would that offend or embarrass her when I never mentioned who my Beta was???
Now for the important one. You accused me of ripping off Pennmill. First of all, let me say that her RPF is one of my all-time favorite stories. Let me also say, I did not rip her off!! Are there not many House Cameron stories that are similar? To make a story with Hugh and Jennifer you have to do pretty much the same thing to make it work. You have to have Hugh divorce his wife and you have to have Jennifer break it off with Jesse. So when you do that... oh, wow, it sounds like the same story! And then they have a scene at the studio...oh my it's the same story! You know, I'm not going to waste any more of my time on this. I've got too many problems in my life right now that I'm dealing with. I'm just going to leave you with this point. You accuse me of ripping off Pennmills story. The facts are that she posted her her story on July 20th 2008. I started posting my story on August 18th 2007! That's an entire year before her. Now I never claimed to be psychic or a prophet, but I'd like to know how I would have known the details of her story a year in advance! Technically, I could have accused her of ripping off my story, but you know what, I've got more class.

If you say so. I already apologized for being harsh. But you DID ask if anyone was reading. Honestly, if you'd posted this way back in the day, when it was written, you probably would have carried on getting your positive responses etc. Now its 10-12 years later and nobody cares about Hugh/Jen much anymore. Which is probably why nobody is commenting/reading. A lot of people have left the fandom and have moved on. When an author doesn't publish for a long time, people forget and don't go back.
I was just confused by the part where you said "edited" in quotes about your beta. What's with the quotes? Was she not good? Or are you just mad because she couldn't finish? There are a lot of good Beta's out there who do JUST that. If she wasn't an official one to begin with, maybe she just didn't take it all that seriously like a regular beta would have. Just a thought.
