Live Blog Main Event, 2006, Hour 6

Aug 10, 2006 23:00

(Remember, I've taken the “,000” off of the numbers, because there is no point in typing the chip inflation.)
22:59 EDT: A multi-way pot of 2,500 is made preflop with a board of J
Q
Q
J
, which was checked around to Gold twice, and he bluffed at it and showed 23o. Great play (I agree with Gordon), but stupid to show it (I agree with Hellmuth - yuck).

22:58 EDT: Cunningham has really loosen a lot on this level. He seems to be blustering his way through these pots, raising most of the last seven and winning before the flop or with continuation bets on the flop.
22:56 EDT: (BTW, blinds are 120/240). Cunningham just made it 750 to go from middle position when it was folded to him and Butler moved in. Cunningham thinks really hard, sighs a bit and counts. He seems to look at it as a CDT, and folded.
22:40 EDT: Cunningham just picked up a pots by calling raises in position.
22:36 EDT: BTW, Binger apparently has a PhD in particle physics. Cool to see the geeks represent.

Butler is now moving in the very next hand. He know he can't wait out Binger because they aren't close in chips anymore. Butler picks up the blinds

22:34 EDT: Binger raised relatively small UTG, and Cunningham moved in from the BB. Binger had a tough call after being moved in on by Cunningham. Cunningham had 2
2
and Binger had A
6
. Binger flopped huge with 4
A
6
5
K
and doubled up!

Gordon called Binger's call gutsy, but I think he sort-of had to. The only argument for folding is waiting for Butler to bust before him. Now, he's way ahead of Butler and Binger can wait for him to bust.

22:12 EDT: The announcers are Roshambo'ing all guests. Friberg, who barely speaks English, is being tricked into doing it with the announcers and just lost $100. Sure, the guy just got rich, but they should explain things a bit better before getting a guy who barely speaks English to bet $100.
22:06 EDT: Hey, they showed the 88 World Series; my coach is on TV for once. :)
22:00 EDT:
I am live-blogging the pay-per-view ESPN Coverage. I start a new post each hour.
