That was fantastic and so exactly how I view them. Thanks for putting this into words. I especially love the relationship section and also when you said "A relationship of battle for the seme" because that is exactly how I imagined any sexual-type situation between them. Thanks for sharing. :-D

*g* I think the battle for seme is something I can see quite clearly - who's going to be on top? I don't see either submitting unless it got them something ELSE.
That was really convincing. I've always considered Light/L to be so much about the mental game that there isn't really space for a physical relationship--sort of like, there's so much focus on minds that bodies are immaterial. But you've got some really great points about sensualness and sexuality. And yeah, Ooba and Obata really do love to tease the fangirls. I've yet to see a fan doujinshi that wasn't an elaboration of a situation already present in the manga.
Typo: in tact; L is determined to capture Raito at any cost (in the "The Relationship")
And arrrrg my older Death Note fanfiction makes me cringe. I'd add anything by lebateleur to that list. She's doing Light/L (or the other way around, I'm not sure) for 30_lemons, and what she's done so far is very, very hot. She also does great spec fic.
I can see them being entirely cerebral, but I think I'm more used to them seeing their bodies as possible weapons. The lack, to a certain extent, the range of emotions which makes us normal.
It's pride. Boil it down to that.
And that... is one of my huge spelling errors, time and again.
*pets* You're a good writer! You two are synonymous with the fandom for me!
Bodies as weapons: Raito does, at least. It's what he uses against Misa and all his other "one-shot" girlfriends. I'm not as sure about L. It's hard to tell how much of his behavior is because he doesn't care what other people think of him, and how much is because he doesn't get what people think of him. On the one hand his grasp of human psychology is excellent, on the other hand it...isn't. XD.

I see L using his STRANGENESS as a weapon. He disconcerts people at times... so I suppose that could be a "body as a weapon" thing.
I think L understands the ABSTRACT of human interaction, he just flunked the practical.
