What a wonderful explanation of this ship. I shipped them before I knew what shipping was, pre-internet. I remember being heart-broken at 10yrs old when Jo turned Laurie down, I still am a little.

I love this, especially the analysis of Alcott's reaction to the fandom. Thank you for writing it!

Thanks so much for reminding me about how wonderful this book is! As well as the pair! I really thought they would happen! But I grew to love Jo and her professor later on. Laurie and Amy, I thought was a little too soon or underdeveloped for me to like. It made me so upset. And Amy was my least favorite too.

How interesting, I never knew Alcott felt this way about the shippers. How ironic, even though the two are painted so nicely together in the first part. Makes sense as to why Laurie seems like a jerk in the 2nd one. This essay brought up things I never thought of before!

Well done! =)

I love Jo and Professor Bhaer together, too, especially their proposal in the mud and rain under the umbrella :)

FUCK YES \o/ they were probably one of my first ships, when I was little and watching the movie.

I give you so many props for writing this as well and thoroughly as you did ♥

That was fascinating. I really enjoyed your analysis of the relationship and I had no idea about Alcott's reactions to the shippers. Thanks for a really informative essay.
