Good essay. I loved the BSC books when I was younger, although I eventually gave most of them away. When I was young, I really didn't notice the subtext, but even then Kristy and Mary Anne were my favorites. Now that I'm reading the graphic novel adaptations, I totally see the femmeslashy-goodness.
