Hooray! Chad and Ryan are so in love. And I love your analysis.

(Um, Kenny said what? About whom? Why is he so crazy?)

Jack. Apparently his hat appears abruptly between shots in the last scene, and when asked about the error, he said it was intentional, because his hat represents that he's in a metaphorical Santa Fe, having achieved his dream. Because Kenny loves the crack.

...Okay, but that's not the only place in the movie where his hat magically appears (it happens in "Santa Fe" too), so...what does that mean, Kenny? Hmmm? (Also, it's certainly not the most egregious example of poor continuity. Unless the fact that David begins to run to Jack three times during the paper-tearing scene represents the stalling of his heart. Which, you know. It might.)

It is the "Santa Fe" scene that Kenny is talking about, actually. It's on the commentary, if I remember correctly. He talks about the appearing hat and how people have criticized it as a mistake, but then gives his bizarre metaphor explanation. *pets him*

Hee, Chad and Ryan were a much more compelling love story than Gabi and Troy in the second. They are just too cute!

This was so great. Chad/Ryan are my OTP of HSM. I could honestly care less about the whole Troyella plotline, Chad/Ryan were the only reason HSM2 was worth watching in my opinion. I will be severly pissed if Kenny Ortega just forgets about their friendship in the 3rd movie.

Anway, great essay! And Disney writers are lame. Lol. They dont match everything up.

They're totally my HSM OTP, too. (Um, duh. *g*)

Yeah, if the writers forget that Chad and Ryan are datingBFF now, I'll be so upset. Especially if they give Ryan a love interest. Chad I could maaaaybe deal with, since he allegedly likes Taylor, but Ryan is so gay.

I will totally scream if they make Martha Cox Ryan's love interest in the 3rd movie just because they're the only two that werent hooked up with someone at the end of the 2nd movie. i mean its Disney and we all know they wont come out and say that Ryan's gay, but we as fans (or at least the older ones) know that he truly is. Lol.

Yeahh, she'd need a bit of a personality build up too. I like Martha, actually, but...I like Ryan with boys. And I suspect Ryan likes it that way, too. *g*

and that Chad kind of wishes he were a male cheerleader.

*uses appropriate icon*

I find it interesting that you mention the sort of "codes" (close to mom, always paired with sister, etc.) used for Ryan; I was thinking about that literally about 10 minutes before you posted this.

Anyway. I like this! :) Totally boyfriends. ♥

That icon is amaaaaazing! May I yoink it (with credit, of course)? I have icons of solo Ryan, but none of just Chad, sadly.

Yeah, Ryan is coded in basically every way possible. The only thing he doesn't do is smoke a cigar lit by Chad...probably because it's Disney. *g*

Thanks!

Sure, go for it. :)

He really is. The second to last one has always really stuck out to me, because leaving the gay/ambiguous character unpaired is (sadly) one of the most common ones, even in recent movies. Also, Ryan's just really really gay. I'm probably more invested in him than I should be, but if Disney can't give me Chad and Ryan's first date in the 3rd movie, I just hope they don't lamely try and pair him up with a girl.

(Edited because I am incapable of forming complete sentences when talking about HSM, apparently.)

And here I thought it was just because it isn't 1899. ;)

Sorry I'm commenting so much, but I just discovered this manifesto today, and Ortega is the pied piper of hoyay subtext in the Disneyverse.
