ahahaha I TOTALLY NEVER EXPECTED MORE THAN FIVE PEOPLE TO USE THE PAIRING NAME I SWEAR TO GOD.

See, I was reading Harry Potter fic and I got to the Pumkin Pie ship name for Harry and Hermione and I said, This is retarded, and also, You know what would be even more retarded? is calling Doumeki/Watanuki Donuts -- and yet it would make more sense! (Doumeki/Watanuki > DouNuki > Donuts > DONUTS ARE TASTY.)

I love this. Frankly speaking, I'm so out of touch with anything fandom and fandom in general, I shouldn't be allowed to comment on this. But you have done a very clear write-up on the dynamics of their relationship, which is always difficult to do when it comes to CLAMP pairings. They are old fangirls, so they always make it doubly hard for us to figure out what is going on.

The name for the pairing is... I'll say, unfortunate. Or maybe I was dreaming when they broadcasted it in the news, because I can't seem to relate it to the pairing (though the original names are really, really long.)

This is actually one of the less convoluted CLAMP relationships, since there's no tons of ANGST in it. They're not abusing each other, stalking each other, or trying to kill each other, which is a serious plus, no?

Yes, it's a typical CLAMP pairing minus the angst. For the time being, that is. They're already starting to veer towards the angst, though it is still kept relatively light on the account that Watanuki is a comic relief through and through. But his mental development can't be avoided, and I think the day he realises exactly what is going on... there's something a little sad and inevitable about his situation, actually. And he's definitely in self-denial at the moment. (The not abusing and not stalking each other bits are always a plus, especially after pairings like Seishirou/Subaru and Fuuma/Kamui. Makes you wonder if there is something called "normal" left in their world.)

I was going to say the most 'normal' pairing CLAMP ever had was Sakura/Sayoran, but then I think they realized that they got them together in the end and decided to make Tsubasa.

So maybe the most 'normal' pairing on CLAMP is the Lantis/Hikaru/Eagle OT3.

Okay. This sentence: "he's able to deal with things without sinking into a wallow of emo." =MAJOR LOVE. (Because of emo, and because it's true).

At first, I wasn't even aware of this pairing (I thought Watanuki was supposed to go with Yuuko, but that fell through pretty fast) so it's weird, because I can usually smell out shonen-ai like a bloodhound. *shrugs* Now I think they're a cute pairing.

And donuts?! I've NEVER heard this pairing referred to as donuts. *giggles*

So many of CLAMP's bishounen are just all WALLOW WALLOW that Doumeki's a pleasant change.

Doumeki doesn't enter until volume 2, so it does make sense that most fans would gravitate toward Yuuko/Watanuki in the beginning. However, that pairing just doesn't "gel" very much - she's much more... well, almost motherly sometimes.

I like the japanese name for the pairing better XD; It's called 104 to japanese fangirls, because taking one kanji from Doumeki, and one from Watanuki, you get 104 (obviously they must've noticed that 'Donuki' sounds retarded as well XD;). When I came to the lj groups I was like... WHO THE HELL IS DONUTS? Because everytime it said "pairing: " it said Donuts. Hah XD; Took me awhile to figure out what it meant XD;;;;

Yuuko is such a fangirl sometimes. You know she's CLAMP's Mary Sue, she has to be.

I've never heard it called 104, but that makes a bit more sense to me.

We really need a starter guide for all fandoms - since the donuts thing doesn't MAKE SENSE.
