I could just about swear they were high school students, freshmen of course but, whatever.

Wonderful essay! It has certainly convinced me that I need to devote some time to getting re-aquainted with my first fandom.

I was only exposed to Animorphs via the TV show. (Which I adored. Oh, Christopher Ralph, you are hot.) But I found this essay to be extremely well written, and very intriguing. It makes me want to learn more about the series, and maybe read a little fic. (Though, you know. Tobias. I like my Tobias.)

OMG Animorphs! I think it's completely awesome that you wrote this. I never really thought about Ax/Marco (I read Animorphs before I found out about fanfiction and slash), but I'll read this and maybe give it a try. In which case, thanks for the recs!

XD lovely essay. While I've never been a fan of slash, I can totally see your point, and agree that there is certainly enough to make a case for it. *clings to my canon for as long as humanly possible*

One little point: Marco went out with Marian, the classical music enthusiast in #25. The fact that he fell asleep during the concert is beside the point. And he had an active, if obviously meaningless, love life, post-war.

'Course, considering I've dated a gay guy who was dating girls in an attempt to be straight (a lost cause of course, you can't exactly change your sexuality, whatever it is. O.o) so I should know better than to take that as proof that Marco's straight.

Marco could be bi, I know that's how I've always written him. I mean, I think he's canonically straight, but I think there's some wiggle room there. Marco = bi has always made a lot of sense to me, personally.

Oh, and you're so right about his post war sex love life. XD
