This pairing fascinates me to no end. I think that your understanding of Anakin/Palpatine is dead on. The lust is practically leaps off the screen (Ian's performance has alot to do with this) I think people don't ship them a lot because it is and affair of the mind. While I generally ship Obi-Wan/Anakin, I think that what we really have is Obi-wan/Anakin/Palpatine Obi-wan, and Palpatine represent their respective sides of the force each with their attendant limitations, and Anakin torn between the 2 ultimately choosing dakness/Palpatine.

Totally so. There are moments in the film that are not even subtext any more ("I can feel your anger... it gives you focus, makes you stronger" bit? whoo! *fans self*) but yes, it's all about Palpatine's words and things happening inside Anakin's head, not about physicality. Mmm yum.

Ooh.. beautiful Pics!

And yes, I have to agree totally that in ROTS the "lust practically leaps off the screen"! I saw it the first time I watched it... and then studied it even more the next 6 times I saw it at the cinema!!!

I don't think any film has ever "got me going" as much as ROTS has done! Now I see all the other Star Wars films in a totally different light and love them even more now!

Am with you on the lust leaping off the screen -- and on watching the other films with a totally new eye. The layers e.g. Return of the Jedi took post-RotS are, whew. The drama!

My 13 year old walked out of the theater demanding to know if there was any more slash it was possible to stuff into 2 hours. She was adamant about the Palpatine/Anakin ship.

I can so see the pairing as well.
Lovely photowork and a good essay.

Next to C-3PO/R2D2, it really is the most obvious and most long-lasting pairing in the entire saga. Padmé who? Piffle.

Glad you liked. :)

I haven't even read the essay yet. Too busy loving the icon (!!!!!) and the banners.

Can't wait to give my eyeballs and rest and put my brain to work on this!
