It’s hard not to get frustrated when you rarely earn a start no matter how much you train. Naturally, holding down a regular starting berth is out of the question when stars like Ribery, Ze Roberto and van Bommel are your teammates. Who happen to play your position - midfielder.
Healthy competition, yes. Yet, competition becomes discouraging when you only rise in the pecking order because your teammates are injured. You don’t want that. You want to start based on merit, not because those ahead of you are injured.
Nowadays, trying to keep up with the ever-rising standards at Bayern frustrates.

When Andi is frustrated at his lack of time on the pitch, he sometimes thinks of Rense, who only plays when Kahn is injured. That, though, is a whole different kettle of fish. Goalkeepers are a special case. Usually, they’re constant. Outfield players, on the other hand, rotate.
He has considered leaving, but hesitates. He loves Bayern and his teammates, and he’s unsure whether he can fit into another club. Not to mention that he’s Bayern through and through.
“Your turn will come,” says Rense, quoting what Andi has often said to him.
So Andi trains even harder. And waits.
