Christmas and LOST (what better combination could there be?)

If Christmas is quiet, it's a success here; it was about half and half this year =\ My sister got a Kindle at her office Xmas party and didn't want it, so I was the lucky beneficiary of her dick boss's largess (seriously, he's a prick). The only thing better than a Kindle is a free Kindle, so I've spent the last week or so grabbing up free e-books and getting some older books I've been meaning to read uploaded onto it. Discovered it's wi-fi enabled and can play mp3s (only really care about the wi-fi). Discovered about the same time that some of my fave fic sites will load on my phone and I can login into readitlater as well on my phone, so with the two devices, I've got access to the net in a much lighter and convenient package almost all the time. So that's cool.

I promised my mom that as part of the Christmas spirit I'd finally watch the finale of LOST again, something I've been putting off for seven months, as the last time I watched it (when it aired) I cried for two hours. It did not bode well for the night when the mere title lettering on the DVD menu made me tear up.

The key reunion moments did it, of course, but I actually appreciated Kate killing Smokey this time, and from the little blond family (Claire-Charlie-Aaron) moment, I was a goner. Didn't sob this time, but only through sheer force of will and desire to not be made fun of =\ (Biting your tongue or cheek doesn't work that well.) Jack's prolonged death and the church scene... I immediately said after the credits that I just do not ever want to watch the episode again, as  2 ½ hours attempting not to cry chased with a pounding headache does not the enjoyable experience make. Even though I really did like it. Surprising I guess, since I'm rather areligious, I just didn't get upset at the ending. :shrugs:

Had waited this long to see the epilogue, which was really not worth the wait. Was hoping to see more of the castaways, but I suppose it's better that we didn't see what happened to them. Still, that was boring.

Got snow, too, but my aunt in CT got four feet, and then was stranded in a hotel in which the power went out, so I'm not complaining at all.

Hope to see a movie this weekend ('cause my mom gave me the guilt trip of my life when I said I wanted to go on Christmas). Would like to see Blue Valentine, but think that's only in the city, so I'll probably see True Grit.

Finally, gotta plug the Super Mario Bros. Marathone http://www.extralives.org/ is doing right now. Donations go to freethechildren (build and supply schools in needy places around the world) and Tim and crew are always entertaining.
