What's the name of that song?

You ever hate it when there's a song stuck in your head from years ago and you don't remember who sang it? Happens to me all the time, especially when it comes to the hazy days of my childhood (aka the 70s).

Strangely, a lot of my latest writing has been influenced by 70s pop and rock (for example, with the current manga proposal that we're getting near to submitting, all of the chapter titles come from the titles of 70s songs), and I've found it to be a vast repository of inspiration (don't laugh - so have the guys who made Cowboy Bebop, Coyote Ragtime, Gunsmith Cats, Riding Bean, and The Art of Fighting anime, amongst countless others), so it really drives me nuts when a song crawls up from the depths of my memories and waits to be noticed, only to be stymied by me not knowing who the hell was the performer.

"Beginnings" by Chicago? Check (though in that case, I knew the artist, just not the song title)
"Laugh, Laugh" by the Beau Brummels? Check (I only remembered it as the song occasionally played on The Flintstones, except in areas where the license had run out)
"Mr. Blue Sky" by Electric Light Orchestra? Check (this one, strangely enough, came by way of Gunslinger Girl, or rather, the Delgados, who did the OP to that anime, as well as a remake of "Mr. Blue Sky")
"Peppercorn Palace" by George Harrison? Check (I can thank a drunken, topless catgirl dancing in the hallway at AMA 2005 for the reminder on that one)
"Matthew and Son" by Cat Stevens? Check (oddly, this one I remembered because of the song material itself; though it's about a father and son's plumbing or construction company, the name has always for some reason struck me as a good name for a father/son pair of mafia hitmen or assassins)
"Broadway Hotel" by Al Stewart? Check (another oddity, I remember this one not because of the fictional hotel mentioned, but because the name reminds me of the now-defunct department store chain from LA)

The list goes on, you see.

And here I am at another one. Last night, while working on a render (I've really got to get a new computer for all the rendering I'm going to have to do!) for a scene, the song poked into my head, and while I can remember the sound of the music and the sound of the singer, the lyrics are half-recollected at best: "...in your (her? my?) eyes" goes what little I can remember of the stanza, and the singer might be Leo Sayer, Gilbert O' Sullivan (likely not) or Harry Nillson - I know it's not Cat Stevens or Al Stewart. I also recall a very nice guitar solo in the middle of the song.

The last time I heard the song, as far as I recall, was from another car while we were stopped at an intersection, a few months' back. Of course, back then, it didn't have the kind of Vulcan nerve pinch it has on my brain right now.

So if anyone has any clue (yeah, right) of what song I'm talking about, please let me know. You'll be sparing what little sanity I have left. ^_^;;;
