with less than 2 weeks left until I start class again, I figured it was time for an update.

what I've done this summer is mostly have mono.  before you ask how I got it, I really have no idea.  I seriously got sick right after finals (don't worry, I did get 2 nights of drunken celebration/debauchery), so all I did for like 2 weeks beforehand was study.  thankfully, although I could have given almost 10 people mono (only one the "normal" way), none of my friends got sick.  big picture: mono is the worst birthday present ever!

my main activity besides sleeping was working for our community service office at school.  the big event we planned is happening next Wednesday and I am super excited.  we are painting a gym in a half-way house for Newark teens.  I had to drive through Newark and Irvington (super ghetto!) to get the paint and I am still alive.  hurray.

I also took a trip to San Diego to visit my Devon.  yes, I finally saw the San Diego Zoo panda baby.  she might be the cutest thing ever.  (I took about 5000 pictures at the zoo, they'll all be on facebook eventually.)  you have to be really quiet at the exhibit because apparently pandas don't like noise.  but they love snow.  my god, they love it.  I also went to the beach (the Pacific is saltier than the Atlantic and not as beautiful as the Caribbean) and ate delicious Mexican food and margaritas.

I finished Harry Potter last night at about 4 am (damn jet lag).
I really liked it.  I was so happy that Dumbledore was right about Snape.  I was so excited when I finished that chapter that I had to put the book down for a while.   the epilogue was super cheesy, but I did cry a little when Harry's son was named after Dumbledore and Snape.  I also cried when Harry found out that Lupin and Tonks were dead, but it was well-thought out I think, because it makes Teddy like Harry and Harry like Sirius.  and then I cried again for Sirius.  I thought about finishing the book on the my plane ride home, but I didn't want to cry in front of strangers.  again, all in all, I really liked the series and 7 was an excellent finish.

the end.  love, me.
