Friday was an impromptu day off. I decided it would be in my best interests to actually stay home and rest seeing as I had both a sinus infection and an ear infection. Sleeping in until 11:00 a.m. and a couple doses of antibiotics helped me immensely. I even had a wee bit of energy later in the day. It was kind of nice. Mom was over for a while as well, working on a jumper that turned out to be too short in the body for Keira (waited a little too long to make it). Ah well. We know a wee baby girl who won't be so wee in about a year. :) Mom and I also took a look through my fabric to see what projects we can work on in the near future. I have a ton of fabric that should really be made into the projects it was earmarked for, or re-purposed for new projects. I'd like to get a good amount of sewing in before we move, whenever that is, because I won't be able to do much of anything in the months just before and just after we move.
Saturday was pretty hectic. Mike really needed to get his brakes looked at. The pads were supposedly 90%, but they were grinding badly like it was metal on metal. Not good. Luckily, the mechanic took it out for a quick drive and noticed the grinding within about five minutes. So yeah, new brake pads for him.
We decided since we were already out that it was a good day for a Mimi's breakfast... but quickly found that our most local one was a bad bet (45 minute wait). Not to worry, though, because the one over off Euclid and the 91 had no wait at all. Keira enjoyed herself immensely, first with many bites of my red velvet "muffin" and then with roughly half my serving of eggs. Seriously, the girl couldn't get enough of my scrambled eggs! And then she switched to oranges, which she adores (also orange juice). So yeah, she was quit pleased with herself.
Keira briefly had both grandmothers over, though she didn't notice it since she didn't wake up until we were just about out the door. Kitty took care of Keira for us while my mom went househunting with us. Unfortunately, Mike was not at all happy with any of the townhomes, and we didn't get to see one house that interests us (and really, on a standard sale you'd think both the agent would return calls and/or the sellers would maybe be a little more accommodating. Whatever). Unfortunately, we really can't up our price point any higher, which excludes most of the halfway decent houses in Orange County. We can either get a somewhat nice house in a really bad neighborhood or a complete disaster of a house in a moderately nice neighborhood. Or we can commute. There are still a few properties in OC we haven't seen, so we'll need to try to take a look at those soon, but both of us are feeling a little discouraged at the moment. I honestly think I could make the commute work, and I'd search high and low for a job in our area if we do wind up out in Chino, but I'm not sure Mike would have that option, and it's a long, long way from Chino to Los Alamitos. And before anybody asks, no, there's really nothing in our price range out that way. We've been looking and... no.
Saturday evening was spent at my grandma's place. My Uncle Greg was in town, so we got to hang out with him. Keira had a blast since she had not one but two sets of aunties and uncles there to play with her, plus my mom, dad, and Uncle Greg. She did have a bit of a fall, though, and I'm a little concerned since she hit her ribs on a low table. There isn't any obvious bruising, but she didn't want to play on the swings yesterday, apparently because the cross strap on the baby swing hurt. :( Something to keep an eye on.
Sunday was a pretty lazy day. Luckily, none of us was really interested in being out of bed before about 8:30. Mom was over later so we could get a start on Easter dresses. We got Keira's cut out and Mom has the fabric to cut out Cailie's. And the good news is we'll be using fabric I already own and a pattern we already own. The fabric was from a project I'll never complete since it was summertime maternity clothes... yeah, that's an old issue. I didn't have any other plans for it, so yeah, Easter dresses! The only thing we need to purchase is thread and trim. Also, we may be able to use one of the fabrics for the dresses as a decorative panel on a bowling style shirt for Mr. Aiden, too (gotta run the concept by Janet first).
I've decided a change needs to be made in Keira's bedtime routine. I'm pretty consistently falling asleep with her, which would be okay if I didn't usually have a ton of things to do before I can go to bed. So I've asked Mike to come and check on me if 9:30 rolls around and he hasn't seen me. I should also try to handle some things *before* putting her to bed so if I do fall asleep at least I don't have to get back up and try to prep stuff when I'm groggy and cranky.
The big plan for the week is to celebrate Mike's birthday with friends on Thursday. Reservations have been made for 7:00 p.m. at Shiki Restaurant in Orange, so if you showed an interest please let me know by Wednesday morning if you can't make it. Ooh... I also need to wrap Mike's gifts. Hmmm.
