I'm hoping next weekend will be a little bit less busy, but it was pretty fun.
Friday afternoon Mom, Keira, and I went house hunting. We looked at four properties out in Corona and I made a mental note to narrow my search down to nothing east of the 6th street exit (Lincoln flat-out sucks). However, we did find a couple of contenders, especially the one on Avenida del Vista. I'm hoping we can get everything squared away and maybe be able to put in an offer on that one. But first we need to talk to Mike's grandmother again to find out what's what.
We stayed in for the evening since I was pretty exhausted and Mike was feeling icky sicky. I think Keira was just grateful to not be in a car. But at least my Mom was with me to entertain her on the way back. I know Keira liked that. :)
Saturday was fabric shopping day! Mike stayed home with Keira, and Mom and I headed up with Jeffrie and Amy to the Fashion District. I found a nice blue silky fabric to use as a lining for a new doublet and also something icky for a forepart at Michael Levine upholstery side, and then Mom and I headed across the street to find Christmas fabrics for Keira. The resale card really helped in that area. 20% off does not suck. After lunch, I also managed to find a nice yellow cotton for a new chemise, which I desperately need. Of course, before I can work on any of that, I first need to work on Cailie's pink camo jumper and Keira's Christmas clotes... not to mention that robe I started for Mike. May as well finish that now and have it for next year, right?
On Sunday Wes and Ryann took Keira to church and a birthday party so Mike and I could head out to look at a couple of the properties I'd viewed on Friday. Unfortunately, one was a short sale and the occupants weren't interested in actually cooperating with the agent on letting us view the property. Oh well, that house wasn't my favorite anyway. Mike *did* really like the one on Avenida del Vista, though. So like I said, we need to get moving if we want to try to snag that one. The biggest selling point is the kitchen, which is huge, completely renovated, and would be perfect for family gatherings.
The rest of Sunday was pretty much business as usual: laundry, cleaning, shopping, cooking. Mike was *not* feeling well, but luckily I was. Between us, we got quite a few things done. Still, I missed my baby girl since I didn't get to see her much. I was pretty grateful when she was back home, even if she was cranky and demanding. I've decided now is the time to start working on some of that, too. She's experimenting with whining and fussing as a way to try to get what she wants. Not good. I'm trying to teach her to say "please" again (she did it for a while), and I'm trying to wait until she stops whining before I give her something. She'll learn, I'm sure. We just need to be consistent. :)
This week is a short week, and has the added bonus of Friday being a holiday so I don't have to burn vacation time to have the day off. It also means we're down to 8-hour days this week, something I kind of forgot when I came in this morning. :::shrug::: With the time change, Keira is waking up earlier now anyway, so it really won't translate into extra sleeping time. However, it *will* allow for more relaxed mornings, which is always nice.
