Good news, great news, and infodump time.

Dang, it's been a while. I've been busy.

Here's a quick recap and a look forward to the future. It's all pretty awesome.

A week or so ago, I took the ASVAB test for the National Guard processing. I know my final score was a 92, which I have no idea what that means other than it's good. (If anyone understands this, feel free to enlighten me.) I'm going to meet with my recruiter tomorrow afternoon to get the details about it as well as the final hurdle: height/weight and the physical.

As of this past Monday, my senior thesis presentation/defense is finally over and done with, and I think I handled the questions, even those out of left field, fairly well. My topic was "The Effects of the Internet on Personal and Social Relationships", and the final copy was 23ish pages long. I have quite a few friends to thank for being a sort of inspiration for me to keep going at this specific topic - particularly harbek and Fae and Parry. ILU guys. <333

Additionally, I discovered a few hours prior to my thesis presentation that I was accepted into the BA Theatre program at Regent University, which was my #2 college of choice. So after I finish Basic Training and whatever else for the National Guard, I'll be starting there either during the second semester or the first semester of 2011. And I've already become eligible for 25% off of my tuition, so I'm very pleased with that.

I've got the top secondary role in Honk!, my school musical which is coming up ever-so-quickly. I'm Maureen (lololol there are several mooing jokes between me and my BFF), the obnoxious best friend of the main character's mother (played my my RL BFF). It's kinda cheesy and not the best-written thing ever, but it's a heck of a lot of fun. And I get solos! And duets! And I get to do fun choreographed things! And solos!
The group were practicing the song "Look At Him" for the concert performance-style promo that we're giving tomorrow, and both times I hit the crazy-high soprano note at the end and belted it out. The first time, the main guy didn't even realize it was me, and the second time, my wonderful director singled me out as being awesome and representing the sopranos (like her).
I'll see if I can get someone to record the promo tomorrow. :)

Also, dernit, I plan to enter this: http://www.cbs.com/specials/tony_awards/upload/
I've decided that the absolute worst thing that can happen is that I don't try at all. I'll probably be singing "Maybe" from Annie as it's the only thing that looks remotely like it fits my style of voice. After the due date (May 27), there's a 6-day period of public voting, in which I ask forgiveness in advance for self-promotion. On June 3, if I'm in the top five, I'll ask you to vote for me again. Here's to wishing.

So that's that. I've got about 4-5 weeks, and then I'M DONE WITH SCHOOL FOREVER. Fourteen years is much too long to be at the same school.

I may do some thoughts on themes in House/Glee/Doctor Who later, but it's all escaped me at the moment.

school: general, national guard, college, life, theatre
