Thoughts at 3 am and a Greed/Ed sketch to make it worthwhile.
So, I was struck with a bit of inspiration for a Greed/Ed pic today. I pulled my big-ass thing of sketching paper into the living room, and started trying to get it down. I had the TV on, and almost as soon as I started drawing, a Law and Order: SVU episode came on. I was excited too, because it was an episode I hadn't seen yet.
Unfortunately it was an episode where little boys were being molested by men. That killed the fun of non-cony Greed/Ed for a while. Even though the boys on TV were around 11 years old and Ed's about sixteen, it just felt dirty. And not the fun kind of dirty.
But it was a good episode. It had that guy that I love from Arrested Development. He's got an awesome voice. I'm pretty sure he's the voice for those foot commercials with "Digger the Dermatophite".
Adult Swim started replaying FMA from the beginning last night. I missed the first episode, but I watched tonight's. I'm not sure I like the English voices as much as the Japanese. I can't wait to hear how Greed and Kimberly sound. Hell, I'm even curious about Roy.
I notice I was wrong in thinking that Archer died in Lior. So there's still a chance for him to become my next favorite evil guy. Yay.
There's still stuff to fix, but the pose was incredibly hard to nail down. I was really happy when I mostly got it right this time. And I love the way sketches tend to clean themselves up the longer I work on them.
You know, I always thought those lines people draw through faces were stupid and worthless. But now that I'm actually drawing and redrawing poses regularly, they are incredibly helpful, as demonstrated on Ed's neglected face here.
It's definitely not done yet. I should probably add in a few missing limbs and shift some that are already there. I also want to throw in a bit of background, but I haven't worked out where to set it. And now that I'm looking over it again, I migh try to make Ed a little shorter. Or Greed taller.
I'm not even sure if it'll be finished by tomorrow night. I'd like to play with my coloring and shading style on this one. We'll see how it goes.
