comment_fic. Prompt: "author's choice, author's choice, I grabbed some frozen strawberries so I could ice your bruising knees" Lyrics from a song by Chairlift called Bruises. I had to write this. <3 And I was on a Tim/Steph kick at the time I started this. XD Batgirl bruises her knees, and Red Robin takes her to a Robin Nest to help her ice them.

They'd gotten away from the fight with only a few bruise, but Batgirl had bruised up her knees pretty nicely in the fight when she went down to duck, banging her knees hard on the concrete. Steph didn't want to be carried, but Tim wouldn't take no for an answer, bringing her to the nearest Robin Nest.
Steph winced a bit when she peeled herself out of her costume as Tim went to get something to ice her knees with. Once he came back, she was down to her skivvies, and Tim didn't blush once. She kind of missed when a half naked girl would have made him a mess. Or maybe it was just the cowl obscuring everything.
She tried to take the bag of frozen strawberries, but Tim sat down next to her instead, pressing the rather large bag against her banged up knees. Steph looked up at him, and he was just concentrating on icing her knees. She bit the inside of her cheek, so she wouldn't wince at the coolness on her knees; she had done a number on them, and it had been a good thing Tim carried her back.
“You can stay here tonight,” Tim said as he kept the bag in place on her knees.
“Thanks,” she said quietly, glancing at him. “Could you take off that stupid cowl already? I don't care if you have cowl hair or something.”
Surprisingly, that made Tim's cheeks a little rosy as he pulled off his cowl. She noticed his cheeks were rosier where the cowl had been hiding part of his face. Maybe having his half naked ex-girlfriend sitting in the same room with him was effecting him, if only a little. It made her feel good, even if it didn't mean anything other than Tim could still blush.
After a few more minutes, Tim took the frozen fruit bag from Steph's knees. “Don't want to get you too cold,” he murmured.
She gave him a smile. “Thanks, Tim. You really don't have to do this. I'm fine, you know.”
“I don't want you to walk to the bedroom like that. The bruises should heal up quick, but...” he trailed off.
“You know, I think you just want to carry me to the bedroom to have your way with me,” she joked.
That made Tim's cheeks really blush as his hands fidgeted with the bag of half-frozen strawberries. “Steph...”
“I'm kidding, Tim...” she told him quietly, caressing his cheek with her hand, though she probably shouldn't.
Tim quietly put the strawberry bag back on her knees. The silence would have been comfortable, but Steph knew Tim had something on his mind. Maybe she should move her hand from his cheek, but it was so normal to her, or it was before everything went wrong.
“Steph,” Tim spoke up, “I...I've missed you.”
“I missed you, too,” she murmured back, instinctively caressing his cheek. “The real us, before we got in our way.”
Tim chuckled a bit into that, leaning into her hand. “Yeah...” he said quietly, moving the strawberries from her knees again. “Let me carry you to the bed?”
“Why, Tim, that sounds suggestive,” she teased, and the blush seemed like it would never leave Tim's cheeks.
“It's not... I just...” he trailed off before putting a hand over hers on his cheek. “We aren't together anymore, but... Can I hold you tonight?”
Her heart skipped a beat at that. “You can,” she answered, making him smile.
Maybe she shouldn't have said yes. They weren't together anymore, but it didn't matter when he picked her up carefully, watching her knees. She wrapped her arms around his neck, her head rested against his shoulder as he carried her away, the bag of strawberries just left to unfreeze.
