Steph Needs More Love Challenge. I wanted to write some Roy/Steph (because I'm completely obsessed). Also, trying to make it into more later, which I won't give away here. A bit inspired by

Masters and Slaves Verse, so there is a mention of the slave thing in this part. In this 'verse, most males aren't free (haha, watch me be sexist at some point in this series, lol). Roy is a free male, and that confuses Steph a bit, until she meets him and his daughter.

Moving into a new manor was strange for Steph since even though Babs had money, she had thought less was more in picking the home for herself, Steph, and Cass. Now, Steph and Cass were moving into a manor because Babs wanted to move in with her lover, Dinah Lance.
At first, Steph was wary because she knew Dinah had a close free male friend that lived with her she had meet because of a previous lover. Her previous lover, Oliver Queen, was rumored to be a notoriously bad father to his ward, who at this point was old enough to not need to be his ward anymore anyway. Steph didn't know what to think of this. Men were meant to be slaves, or so Steph had learned while living with Babs and meeting her Birds of Prey. Only few men were actually free.
That was what worried Steph. She had never met a free male before. She only really knew the three male slaves Babs kept called her Robin Harem. Other than that, Steph's experience with males was rather limited, so meeting Roy Harper was definitely going to be something, especially since Cass opted out at the last minute to keep the Robins company in their new quarters.
Before Steph could guilt Cass into staying with her, she disappeared, and a little girl bumped into the back of Steph's knees, making her spin around. Steph looked down to see a mop of black hair with a giggling little girl looking up through her bangs. The girl waved as she looked back with a giggle.
“I'm hiding! Don't tell daddy I was here, okay?” the little girl asked as she ran around the corner to hide behind a potted plant.
Steph blinked, not understanding what the girl meant until a red haired man came in, looking around. He was obviously looking for the little girl, but he didn't look angry and just smiled at Steph. “Hey, have you seen a little girl about this tall,” he asked as he put out a hand at about the little girl's height, “and came this way with a fit of the giggles?”
Not knowing what to do, Steph glanced back where the little girl was hiding to notice her holding a finger in front of her mouth. “No, I don't believe so,” Steph played along.
The man mocked frowned. “Well, that is too bad. I would have given a reward for her whereabouts,” he teased just confusing Steph further.
A giggle came from behind the plant as the little girl jumped out and hugged the man's knees before she looked up at Steph with big, bright eyes. “Daddy just wants to give the pretty girl kisses,” she divulged before her father pulled her up into his arms, causing her to yelp and giggle more.
“Ignore my little terror, she has no idea what she's saying,” the man said, kissing the top of his daughter's head before extending a hand to Steph. “I'm Roy Harper, and this little girl is Lian.”
Steph's eyes widened as she shook his hand awkwardly. “Oh! You're the free male!” she exclaimed then covered her mouth when she remembered Lian. “Um, I'm Stephanie Brown. Nice to meet you?”
Roy chuckled. “It's all right. Lian knows her daddy's special, right, sweetheart?”
Lian nodded with a smile. “Yup! I'm lucky! Most little girls don't get to keep their daddies!” she announced jovially as she wrapped her arms around Roy's neck. “I have the best daddy ever because he saved me from my crazy mommy.”
Roy coughed, blushing a bit before ruffling Lian's hair. “As you can see, sometimes my daughter talks too much,” he said easily. “Nice to meet you, Stephanie. I do hope you, Barbara, and Cassandra enjoy it here.”
Steph smiled a little, reaching to ruffle Lian's hair. “With such a cute little girl running around, I think living here will be very interesting,” she said as Lian giggled.
“Yay! More people to play with!” Lian exclaimed happily. “Auntie Dinah and daddy are fun, but they're busy a lot, and my nannies never stick around.”
Roy winced a little before putting Lian down. “Speaking of your nanny, did you ditch her again?” Roy asked, crossing his arms sternly.
Lian looked down before looking up with an innocent smile. “Daddy, she's not a very good nanny if she can't catch me,” she said childishly.
Steph watched the exchange carefully as Roy frowned. “Lian, go back to the playroom and apologize,” he stated firmly.
Lian listened with a pout, but not before smiling up at Steph. “Nice meeting you, pretty lady! We should play together again!” she announced before running down the hall, heading to the playroom.
Roy rubbed the back of he neck. “I'm sorry about that. She's been rather rambunctious since she figured out how to ditch her nannies,” he said, clearly exhausted from it. “So, how's your stay been so far?”
“Interesting,” she answered truthfully as she smiled. “I think I'll be liking it here.”
Roy smiled back, and Steph was sure she would definitely enjoy her stay.
