Mia had had it. She came back to the Teen Titans because they needed more people, but if Tim didn't get an attitude adjustment and soon, she was going to turn him into target practice. Sure, he was the leader, and of course he was supposed to give order, but he could have been nicer about it.
“Robin, you're an ass,” Mia let slip out one day after they came back from a fight.
Tim stopped dead in his tracks as the others were dead silent. Well, except for Rose, who was just laughing as she pulled up a chair to watch what the Boy Wonder's reaction to Mia's words would be. “And what do you base that on, Speedy?” he asked.
Mia rolled her eyes behind her mask as she put down her bow and quiver before pulling down her hood as she stalked to get in Tim's face. “What do I base it on? The way you treat us in the field! Yeah, you're Robin and our leader, but that doesn't mean you have to be such a cold bastard about it!” she shouted.
Tim quirked an eyebrow as Rose clapped. “Go, arrow-girl!” she crowed as everyone ignored her outburst.
“I'm just leading effectively. If you don't like it, Speedy, you can leave,” Tim stated.
Mia continued to glare as Cassie put a hand on Tim's shoulder, gripping tightly. “Robin,” she said, careful to use his codename and not his real one, “she's kinda right. What happened to you?”
“I think he's just taking a page out of Nightwing's book,” Mia spat as Tim looked over at her with narrowed eyes. “Roy did tell me about the Outsiders. Bad time to emulate Nightwing, you know.”
“Leave Nightwing out of this,” he nearly growled as he left. “Titans' weekend is over. You guys can head home.”
Cassie moved to go after him, but Mia stopped her. “I made him angry, so I'll fix it,” she said quietly, grabbing her gear. “I'll see you guys later.”
Mia chased after Tim, finding him in the training room. She went in, leaving her gear by the door before closing it behind her quietly. Tim heard the door and turned to see her. “Wanna tell me what's wrong? I mean, I know what I said, but you're a bat. I didn't think you'd get that angry, or at least not visibly so.”
“Just having a bad week,” he muttered. “It'll pass, Mia.”
She frowned. “I'm sorry. I didn't really help...”
Tim shook his head. “No, it's just...” he trailed off as he moved to sit on the mats. “My girlfriend died almost two years ago, and she just came back, but she never died. It was all a big cover-up, and she decided I didn't need to know about it.”
“Oh,” Mia said quietly, taking a seat next to him. “That...sounds pretty shitty.”
“It is,” he said quietly as a silence fell between them.
“If you need to talk, I'm here,” she offered, breaking the silence. “No names or anything. Just someone to rant to.”
Tim turned to her with a small smile. “Thanks, Mia.”
She smiled back easily. “No problem, Rob. That's what teammates are for.” She paused. “And friends.”
“Right,” Tim answered. “Friends.”
