So a lot has happened since I last wrote... I'll give you the reader's digest version:
•returned to Seattle and celebrated my birthday with my family.
•got job offers from BOTH jobs I interviewed for and decided to go with the one with the homeless families because I was nervous about working with crazy kids. The job starts august first.
•parents returned to Boston and spent a week at my grandma's languishing in boredom.
•saw harry potter and it sucked.
•drove down to portland
•spent the night with nora and her housemates. ate at burgerville, spent the rest of the night watching squid and the whale, making baked goods and talking about trip experiences.
•left to mt. shasta, california to see sarah.
•sarah and i climbed mt. shasta and i drank glacial spring water right out of the ground.
•got horribly sunburnt
•drove to sebastopol.
•went to tony from lamplighters's birthday and had a good time, although they kept waking me up to do more tequilla shots.
•looked at an apartment in scary oakland that looked like the neighborhood from boyz n' tha hood.
•hung out with jess a lot.
•went to see 1408 which was the balls.
•found a place in south berkeley which is nice. it's a 2 bedroom in a 4 apartment complex, it has hardwood floors, a master walls painted a cool color that's mine, also a big living room with kitchen attached. It's a bit small but it's cozy and perfect for our needs. We signed the lease three days ago and move in august first.
•spent time with jess's friend gabe who is a medi-pot patient and pretty fucking cool.
•dan tepaske came to visit me a couple days ago. we went out to bars when he first got in and stayed at a hostle, then went to fisherman's wharf, haight-ashbury, and golden gate park where we went to the
de Young Museum and saw a good but intense exhibit by
Hiroshi Sugimoto•drove back to Sebastopol with Dan.
Today we're going WINE TASTING.
Things have fallen into my lap so quickly here, but I'm becoming aware of a rising sense of culture shock and homesickness in me. It's really different out here! I'm not sure I can fully define how yet, but... onward and upward.
The weather, of course, has been gorgeous.
