JIANG WEI HAS RETURNED TO BATTLE!

So I'm so excited I could pass out from sheer glee. It's about damn time, KOEI. He looks very different from his former, more dorky designs. Now he looks like Zhao Yun and Sanada Yukimura's baby given what looks appears to be a grand general's robe. I wonder if he'll still be a huge dork... (I'm so glad they didn't cut his hair like they did to Cao ( Read more... )

DAMN he's pretty. Almost as pretty as FFXIII's Cid Raines. Ningning will always be my main stabby-bishi, though.

Now they just need to bring Zuo Ci back. Not that that's going to happen.

Yeah, when I saw FFXIII's Cid I freaked out since I associate the name "Cid" with a spear-using pilot who swears a lot, a doctor who dresses in what looks like a yellow poncho, and a school headmaster.

Ningning is awesome. (I love that icon, by the way.)

Maybe, but I'll definitely let you know if he pops back up.

Hm. I know the spear welding Cid is from FFVII and the yellow poncho one is from FFVI, but which one is the school headmaster?

(I usually think of Cid from XII ...or Al Cid. Because Norio Wakamoto is awesome.)

Yay Ningning! :D I like that icon better than this one, but this one is still cute, too.

M'kay. Thanks!

School headmaster is Cid from FF8.

Well, they had to bring Jiang Wei back eventually. Koei can only be so creative with characters. They take some out because they're too lazy to redesign everyone and then they make clones, etc... And then declone people and bring back older characters.

I know you loved Multi Raid, but I thought it was a little lame. I can't decide if the PS3 version is even worth it. I'm just going to play more Empires until my eyes bleed.

I kind of hope they bring back Xing Cai, honestly, despite all the hate she gets (which should really exist only because of her terrible moveset; let's face it, everyone in these games is as shallow as a puddle in a desert). It was nice having another serious warrior woman. (Zhu Rong is totally awesome, but a bit too nekketsu to count.)

Ah, KOEI/Omega Force. The only companies as lazy as whoever makes the Madden games. *sigh* At least they brought him back.

I like Multi Raid because the combat system is quite a bit more fluid and strategic than that of the main releases. (As well as because Yue Ying is completely amazing due to her versatile main weapon and her incredibly useful secondary weapon proficiencies.) Even with the difficulty of playing it solo (and honestly, it's not really that hard except for a few bits which are console-shatteringly nasty; I'm looking at you, Battle of Chengdu), it's probably one of my favourite recent games. *shrugs* I'm genuinely curious, though: what did you find lame about it? The system itself? ( ... )

Big boss fights are fine, but I grew up with loving the fact that, mid-combo, you could TURN YOUR CHARACTER AROUND. Seriously, even in DW2. If Multi Raid is going to give me the same number of enemies as any other DW game, don't give me a crap camera and limit my attacking range. I don't want to have to hold the lock-on button down forever. It cramps my finger more than playing Stepmania for hours ( ... )

Wha? I admit to never having played 2, but in 3 and 4, once you started hitting somebody, you were locked on until the combo finished, the guy died, or you stopped button-mashing. In Multi Raid at least you can cancel out of attacks easily by dashing or jumping. You don't have to fight every person who appears onscreen; if you are, you're just wasting time and health. What do you mean when you say "limit my attacking range"? Most people have long-range options in their base movesets (especially in Kakusei, when a ton of people get shockwaves), and you can switch weapons. You can also get weapon upgrades that increase melee range. I think one issue may be that the normal ground attack string is nowhere near as useful when there's an AI that can fly and isn't asleep. Apparently KOEI fixed the lock-on problem by making it possible to just tap the L button for the PS3 version, so that probably won't be an issue for MR2. (It honestly never bothered me, as it meant that if the enemy went off-screen, I could just cancel the lock-on without ( ... )
