Top priority. Screw not getting any tonight, Jack wasn't gonna' be having a for a while. He hadn't done too many of those in the past, but he knew it meant he wasn't going to have time for more than quickies between getting up and going to work, and maybe when Rhys got home at night - if he felt like it. Which he probably wouldn't, because this all meant that Jack was going to have to blow off his promises for even longer.
The worst part was that if the people he was supposed to be searching for had decided to just camp out in Calm Town for a while, or weren't planning on trying for Midgar at all, Jack would just be wasting his time. This whole thing sounded like some paranoid exec who knew a little bit more than he was letting on to Drake wanted this shit cleaned up before something happened and it was on his head. He'd gotten to know the suits pretty well before becoming a Turk, and this was just the kind of thing they'd pull. Still, he had to let the boss handle that. He'd been around the suits even longer.
Collecting himself from the desk, Jack headed out into the hallway with a wave to Drake and Asher and wink at Zhi. "Don't miss me too much, baby." He leaned against the wall, waiting for Luca and Baldur. He had to give orders now, huh? Jack was pretty sure his fellow Turks could get the job done without having their hands held - the boss had been pretty straightforward this time, at least in Jack's mind. They had to find some people. It didn't get much simpler than that, except maybe 'watch this' and 'shoot that'. Baldur had the more complicated job, but she seemed pretty smart, and in Jack's experience women were less likely to go off and do something real stupid in general, so he didn't really know what he could say that would help her out.
First things first, though. "Nice to be working with you guys, finally." Sure, Baldur was pretty new, but Drake seemed to have an aversion to putting Luca and Jack together, so even though they'd been around for a while this was the first time they were going to be working on the same thing, really. "There's only one thing I gotta' ask when you're working with me." He tapped his cell phone. "If you wanna' call me or ask me something, don't use text. Some people get way too happy with that shit. I don't wanna' read someone's novel in the middle of a firefight, y'know? If I'm not picking up, leave a message."
He glanced out the window. It was already night, now, the meeting had killed whatever was left of the evening. "There's not much of 'today' left use, but Baldur, you should hit up the official entrances, talk to the guards. See who's come in in the past couple of days. If they're coming in topside, they're prob'ly gonna' do it all official like. Maybe fake IDs. If you think something like that's going on, check with the tech people back here. If you think they've paid security off, go and break some kneecaps or something." Jack flashed her a grin, and it was impossible to tell if he was joking.
"'Fraid I gotta' borrow Luca for tonight, though. Gotta' go and make some 'preliminary observations'." He decided he liked the phrase from Drake's report folder, so he jacked it. He hoped she didn't get them in shit for this, because it was something he really needed to do if this was going to work at all. That it got him one step closer The Plan was just a bonus. He slung an arm around Luca's shoulders. "Let's go, sweetheart. Without you looking after me, all those disreputable men from the slums-" that word was jacked from Zhi, "-will steal my virtue."
