Walking the halls Heide had a plethora of Military information coursing through his brain. He hadn't been in this good of a mood since he left Midgar for his place of residence near north crater. His position as military advisor had him feeling younger than ever and his life was moving towards social again. There was so much new life in the company

Regretful. Repenting? What had time done to Shinra's merciless director of public affairs? She wondered briefly how old he was, and some quick mental calculations placed him at his late fifties - approximately the age she was, when her previous life met its physical end. Had this change come purely from the wisdom gained from age, or had the circumstances in his recent years been powerful enough to bring on all these reflections and epiphanies?
Different surroundings can shape people in unexpected ways - Joey herself was living proof of that very fact, but Joey's time had also been nonlinear. Had she been given a second chance while retaining her old body, would she have embraced it so completely as Heideggar appeared to have done?
No. She knew the answer to that question already. So perhaps in that aspect, Heideggar was a better man than Hojo had been.
Reeling slightly, Joey took off her glasses and wiped a palm across her eyes, a chuckle escaping from underneath her fringe as she dipped her head. Here Heideggar was, with a child he believed to be a stranger, confessing some of the deepest troubles on his mind. What exactly did he wish her to say, or did he merely need an outlet, no matter how unconventional, after so many decades?
"Please, sir," she said at last, still grinning despite knowing better, "just say 'shit' when you want to. I'm sixteen, not six, and I've heard much worse, believe me."
And crossed one leg over the other, resting her hands on the topmost knee, to give him another long look before speaking again.
"You have roses for your fellow ex-directors. That's lovely, really, and I hope this gesture will help ease your conscience. But I have to ask, Mr. Pferdenlachen - do you have gifts for your victims as well - the people whose lives were affected by your actions, the actions of your department, the actions of Shinra? You seem to have the right attitude, but the wrong direction."
She was aware that her guise as an innocent girl was rapidly slipping, but Joey didn't care. "Out of the old members of the board, three are missing or dead. Mr. Tuesti is now head of an organisation dedicated to helping the Planet, and Mr. Shinra is also heading aid work. I'm curious, sir - you recognise the atrocities you've committed in the past... are you doing anything to try and make up for them?"
The glasses returned to her face, and Joey couldn't resist adding, with a smirk, "and don't feel the need to make peace with Hojo - that old bastard deserved all the shit he got."
