I set my eyes on the surroundings outside the foggy windows. Everything that passes me by was in a quick transition; the trees, the mountains, and the sky. I was on my way back home to see my loved ones again - umma, Ha Jae and Hyo-- my friends. I missed them already… I missed everything where I used to be. Then my naughty little sister’s face suddenly hit my mind. I suddenly missed my bonding with her as a brother. She would always get involved into a trouble and then would ask me for a backup. She would always open up her love life to me and would seek for my advice and comfort. She would always tell me how much she loves me and how thankful she is for having me as her brother. She would always be Ha Jae - my lovable dongsaeng.
I wonder what everybody’s doing right now and how they would react once they get to see me again. They have an idea that I’ll be coming home for Christmas, but they do not know that it’ll be earlier than they expect… and it’ll be today. Only Ha Jae knows about it coz I want to surprise them… It would be fun I’m sure.

I put my scrutiny on the matter, and then I realized that it was falling snowflakes. Winter has come. I couldn’t help but to smile to the breathtaking moment. I love snow. I love winter. And it’s great for me to witness it happening on its very first day. It’s so beautiful… Out of concern, memories began to play in my head…
*FLASHBACK*
“Oppa! No!! I don’t want you to leave!” It was Ha Jae complaining about my sudden decision of moving out to a place miles away from our home to pursue my studies in college. I recently received my full scholarship to one of the prestigious medical schools here in Korea and it would be such a waste if I wouldn’t grab this once in a lifetime opportunity. I had tried explaining to Ha Jae that it was just for our family’s sake but she insisted on acting childish; she didn’t want to accept my reason. Aigoo.
“But it won’t be that long. I’ll always keep in touch with you, I promise.” This would be the nth time of me telling this to her but her cries became much harder to bear. Omo.
“NO!!! What about you and Hyo Sun?!!!! You’ll hurt her!! OPPA!!! You’re such a heartbreaker!!!””
Oh crap. I almost fell on my knees.
“You brat, if that’s your way of forcing me, then I’m sorry but… I don’t buy it.” I know she’ll understand me.
“Ha Jae, don’t be like this to your oppa, please understand and support him.” Umma came up interrupting us just to calm down Ha Jae.
Then she finally gave up. “OPPA PABOO!!!” She went to her room and slammed the door. Well, I guess I’ll just let her cry out all her frustrations because sadly to say, my decision is already final. After that challenging battle I had with Ha Jae, I picked up my phone and dialled a number. Hyo Sun’s number.
“Yeoboseyo?” I heard her sweet voice softly passed through my ears, I suddenly felt uneasy.
“A-aah… Hyo Sun-ah, can we meet today?” I told her with a shaky tone.
“Hey, are you fine?” And she was really smart for sensing my emotions.
“How do I say? Uh… 1pm, okay?”
“Hmm relax okay? See you.”
I prepared myself and went to our usual place few minutes earlier so that I won’t be late. While waiting, I scanned the whole place as I walked around a little when suddenly, white particles started to fall everywhere. It’s the season of snow again. Time passed by in a blur and a figure finally appeared and broke my seclusion.
“Have you been waiting for so long?” Hyo Sun’s voice was worried as she walked faster than normal towards me, panicking a little. I giggled as I ushered her to the bench. We were in a park.
“Yah… It’s been 13 minutes now since 1pm. You’re late.”
She then crinkled her nose as she confidently made a remark. “And liars go to hell.”
We both chuckled at our jokes.
“It’s so beautiful.” She was pertaining to the snow.
“Yeah, it is.” I replied to her as I copied her collecting snowflakes with our hands.
“Uhm. By the way, why did you ask to meet me today?”
I was steadied, gasping. “Well… I wanted to talk to you about something and I hope that you’ll listen up until to the very last word I’ll say.” I told her so that she’ll be prepared to whatever she’ll hear from me. I don’t want her to get frustrated or even mad just because of this. She looked alarmed but she managed somehow to compose herself.
“Okay… Go ahead.”
I was hesitating first but I gathered up all my courage and began talking.
“Before anything else… Hyo Sun, will you promise me that you’ll wait for me?”

“Soo Hyun-ah…” I saw a hand waving at my sight. Ohh crap… I almost forgot.
“Y-yes?”
“You’re spacing out. Something bothers you?”
“N-nothing… I was just thinking about them…”
“Oh your family?”
“Yhep.”
“I’m excited to meet them as well. I wonder how we would interact.”
“Well, you’ll know soon. But first, reserve some energy, okay?” I then kissed her forehead and laced my arms around her. She smiled in comfort and found a way to take a sleep easily after.
The road to our home from the place where I currently reside for my studies will take almost 3-4 hours of trip. I didn’t know for how long have I been spacing out for Yura to notice, but, I’m sure enough that it has been hours already since the trip started. Well, I guess it’s just that I’m excited to see them.
Yura has been my girlfriend for almost 7 months now after we met each other at school. She was taking the same course as I and we always go together. I got to know her more and lately got attracted by her interesting personality. Her determination and courage to explore things by her own, the willingness to take up challenges and learn from them, are the things what I found interesting from her. For me, she’s a very strong woman. I really admire her.

The familiar sensation I used to feel whenever I come to this place hit me once again after a quite long time. I am home - finally. I excitedly ran to our gate and knocked with eagerness for someone to open it for us. Yura just laughed at me for seeing me in that freakish state. Soon enough, a figure went out from the door and we were welcomed by her heavy footsteps. That was none other than my dongsaeng, Ha Jae. I only stared at her, waiting for her reaction when she suddenly squealed like a child.
“OPPA!!!” She hurriedly opened the gate and jumped over me as she hugged me tight. Aigoo. I missed her so much.
I instructed Ha Jae a few days ago to gather up everyone in the house for my unexpected home coming. Funny that she has still to proudly report to me that she completed my task for her successfully. She still hasn’t changed though… she always wants me to acknowledge her efforts even if it’s not that quite a big deal.
Ha Jae first went inside and told me that she’ll just give me a signal to come after her. She slowly opened the door and I heard her talking to everyone that she has a surprise for them. Then she just out of the blue pulled me with a great force that I almost fell to the floor. Great. What a grand entrance.
“SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!” Ha Jae announced impatiently.
Everyone yelled in shock to see me standing in front of them. Umma immediately came to me and hugged me while stating her “I miss you’s” and “How are you’s” as she cried in happiness. I too couldn’t help but to get emotional when I saw her again. Who wouldn’t?
After that heart-whelming reunion with umma, I then saw my old friends smiling at me and some of them were teasing me for being such a cry-baby. Haha. I roughly recognized some of them because of the changes happened to the physical looks. Well.
“Who are you?!” I teasingly pointed to the maknae Taemin.
He just laughed while making a hand seal with me. “Shut up Hyung. Whazzup?”
“I’m good.”
Then Kevin approached me. “Welcome back Hyung.”
“Who are you as well?!” Kevin also laughed at my prank. I’m always like this to them, teasing them to create a happy atmosphere. I missed the feeling.
Then I step back a little to see the others. There, I saw her finally. Hyo Sun… with Minho at her side.

“How are you?” I asked her with a smile on my face.

“Good thing. Me too.”
Minho and I then just shared a look that acknowledges the presence of each other.
I knew it. Minho was there to take my place, right?
Just then, Ha Jae interrupted the scene.
“Oppa. You were with someone. Introduce her to us.”
“Oh, yeah. I’m sorry.” I pulled Yura and placed an arm around her shoulder.
If that’s the case then… I guess I should let you go.
“Everyone, this is Kim Yura. My girlfriend.”
