It's never a good week with PMS in action and the bleeding to be oh-so imminent. I dunno, I always thought it's pretty therapeutic to complain about stuff in fandom because otherwise I'd be breaking shit in the house in real life due to my irrational rage. That's just the kind of logic that confuses me. Antagonists and other similar themes are pretty necessary for just about any story. It really is a case of people taking a kid's show too seriously... but what do they expect? Who in the world honestly thinks these shows would be better if everyone was bland and friendly and pretty much the same as the friggin' protagonists themselves? And yeah, honestly I'm surprised they don't think Paul being curb stomped by Cynthia and Brandon in battle in front of several people in both instances doesn't qualify as karmic smackdowns. Which is why I'm pretty sure most of these people barely even watch the show. It's pretty hard to just overlook one-sided battles like that. And that's not even getting into what I'm sure will be a huge blow to whatever's left of Paul's ego when Ash beats him in the league. It's just... there are opinions, and then there's just plain ignorance, and that essay is much more the latter than the former.

Oh definitely. I can't in all good conscience nag character bashing because I do it to Kenny all the time, but there's really no need to make a convoluted excuse to dislike Kenny. His dullness and rare appearances among other things pretty much speaks for itself. And yeah, Paul DID help in that episode. What's more, even HIS help wasn't quite enough to save everybody until Infernape came in and saved everyone, so that's even more proof that Paul's not even remotely a Stu. I really do hope Paul retains that jerkhole-ness to a degree as well because dear god that would be one fall from grace. I still suspect he'll get shipped off to the Kanto BF after the league so he can take daddy down once and for all, which probably won't leave much opportunity to show him changing in a ridiculous and improbable way.

YAY WE LOOK FORWARD TO IT~ ♥ Plenty of new Ashes have come and gone since then! A 20 year-old Ash effectively broke my Paul's battling spirit for a while so RELISH IN THAT.
