Guess my mom felt bad about cheating me out of SoulSilver, because she let me get it Monday after all. She was originally going to let me get it Sunday as planned on a credit card since it's only $35, but apparently went on a shopping spree for her beauty products while I was sleeping over the weekend. Even though she claims to have saved over a hundred bucks, she still spent over fifty. Because she gets the high-end stuff like Olay, y'know. Still highly valuing her relatively youthful look while it's lasting. Thing is, she never told me this ahead of time, so I was pretty upset when she changed her mind all of a sudden and then the worst period in recent memory smacked me the very same day.
I mean... mine are usually bad enough as it is, but I can't remember the last time one was bad enough to leave me bed-ridden the entire day. Not to mention constantly sleeping on and off throughout the day. It was pretty upsetting to go through that with no distraction for the pain, since it was too much to even sit at my computer desk. So the thought of having to wait until Friday was dreadful. By Monday, she had a change of heart and let me get it, so it's nice to know she cares. ♥
But even though I preordered, I never did get my Lugia figurine. I suspect it's because they ran out on the first day, nrrgh. Oh well. Would've just been collecting dust on my desk anyway.
So yeah, I've been hammering away on the game like everyone else who got it. Within the span of Monday evening and early this morning (think I finally stopped playing around 6 AM), I already acquired seven Johto badges and my next stop is Goldenrod City to kick Team Rocket's ass. It's nice to be able to play the game without the lag and random freezing that occurred in the rom. Not to mention understanding what everyone's saying~. As planned, I got my Ice Punch-bred Sneasel transferred from Diamond so that I would have a bit of an easier time party-wise. Otherwise, the same usual suspects: Feraligatr, Ampharos, and Togetic. I've got Miltank serving as my HM Slave at the moment and I was considering training the Vulpix, but I think I'll just hold out and wait for Marowak again. The team's surprisingly evened out with everyone's levels in the low 30s.
Gym Leaders? It was a bit different this go-around. Falkner was still a cakewalk, but I surprisingly had trouble with Bugsy and Whitney (and for the latter I say this because it was pretty easy to beat her in the rom and she never once used Rollout there). Bugsy was primarily due to his abuse of U-Turn, which for some reason was killing my team like crazy. I've still defeated everyone on the first try, though. Whitney in my game did use Rollout, but only a couple of times. Naturally the difficulty with her was Miltank's goddamned Milk Drink. And yes, it was awkward getting that call on the Pokegear: "Whitney! I heard you defeated Whitney!" pfffffff.
Morty was easy because Sneasel killed absolutely everything with Shadow Claw. I then went to Pryce fifth because I'm a rebel like that. Just exploited the water and ground weaknesses rather than ice's; hence Pryce was easy. Chuck was easy enough because all that required was Extrasensory spam. Annnnd Jasmine... not bad. OHKOed Steelix with a nice Surf and was even able to OHKO one of her Magneton with Discharge of all things. Pff.
I expect Sneasel will steal glory again when I reach Clair because Ice Punch pretty much kills anything that doesn't resist it.
And I named my Feraligatr GATORADE. So hah.
Hope I'm not too distracted with the game to forget about the new South Park tonight. Not to mention new Pokemon now at 6 AM thanks to the stupid daylight savings time. But I managed to remember 5Ds this morning, so that shouldn't be a problem.
... And oh boy, it was nice watching reruns of A Pyramiding Rage!. Could've sworn on the last rerun that they aired it in 4:3 ratio because this time it was back to 16:9 just like the first airing. I think maybe five episodes so far haven't been cropped for the dub and it started with the first Candice episode. I hope that's a sign that things are finally changing. Lord knows how irritating it actually was having to sit through CN's presentation of Total Drama Action where everything was cropped to hell and back and it actually did make a difference. I really never will understand CN's wishy-washy attitude about proper aspect ratios for certain shows. They're very consistent with certain programs (like 5Ds, that stupid superhero squad show...); Pokemon... not so much and it's beyond me why that is. It still sucks that new episodes are stuck in the 7 AM slot, too. Not sure why they'd be doing such a thing to one of their highest-rated shows, but I'm not having any faith in CN's integrity ever since they decided to broadcast their own live-action shows. On a network for cartoons.
Even more irritating is the website's faux widescreen presentation of shows they have in fullscreen format which makes some pretty heinous results, as you can probably guess. I really should go back to Total Drama Wiki at some point (because some people are actually using those shots and good god they're distracting). Had no idea that Total Drama, the Musical was changed to Total Drama World Tour now. I'm trying not to keep myself waiting in agonizing suspense, of course~.
... Well, that was a lot. Didn't expect to write so much. Back to the game-mashing~! ♥
