Prologue
In high school, only two things travel between students faster than the flu. Rumors and secrets. And in a small town like Cornstalk Illinois, where the events at the local high school were the only semi-exciting things happening, no secret was safe for long. For instance, everyone knew that last year the composition teacher had been fired for being suspected of sexually harassing students. The man had been so well hated that when he finally left town; he had been chased by an angry mob pelting his car with rotten eggs.
It was common knowledge that the principal, Marcus Ricci, was in no way qualified for his position. It would have been a much better idea to give the job to someone like Alaric Schmidt, the well organized and educated world history teacher. But since Marcus was also the varsity football coach and had led the team to victory at the state finals three years running, no one seemed to mind much.
Small town living was boring enough to drive most students to near insanity. Which might have been the reason as to why the high school was so interesting. Every school had it’s cliques and Cornstalk High was no different. The ongoing war between the extravagant ‘Bad Touch Trio’ and the members of the student council was better known than most sitcoms. And in the center of it all, propagating the madness was the online blog, “The Secrets in the Stalks.” No one knew for certain who maintained the blog; took the photos or wrote the articles. But everyone read it religiously.
Hidden away in his room, the Webmaster smiled as he put the finishing touches on his latest article. The Moderator had been kind enough to wade through the internet and find him a decent photo of the articles subject, most likely a candid shot by the look of shock on the boys face. He deftly clicked and dragged the image into place beside the body of text.
Cornstalk High had been going through a dry spell since the end of the first semester. After the drama clubs fall production of the play Harvey, the student council had led another minor crusade to enforce rules and inspire school spirit. But the Bad Touch Trio had stood strong in their ways and fought back, with some "spirit" of their own during the Winter Formal. But, as was expected, when the snow began to fall most activity slowed as students began anticipating winter break.
The Webmaster submitted his article. All across the county cell phones began to ring. Notifying their owners that the famous blog had been updated. He smiled again, studying the wide, bright green eyes of Cornstalks newest resident and student. Slow times weren’t good for the news. A new topic had been needed to shake things up and the latest mass email to the faculty had provided just what he needed.
A new student was always newsworthy. But he became even more so when it was revealed just where he was transferring from and why. London, England. The Webmaster sat back in his plush computer chair, sipping at his water bottle. The old school’s report had said that Arthur Kirkland was being expelled for ‘disciplinary measures.’ But no reasons had been listed.
It was most suspicious. The Kirkland family had no relatives, living or dead, in Cornstalk. So why should they move here? Why not find a new school in England instead of crossing an ocean and moving to a tiny town in the middle of nowhere?
Comments had already began pouring in. Speculation about the boy, what he had done to be expelled and the strange relocation. The Webmaster yawned as he shut down the computer. No news was definitely not good news. Now it appeared that he and his team would have enough news fodder to make it all the way to the end of the school year.
Cast List
Arthur:(Senior) Feisty and slightly uptight new kid in school. Has a longing to disobey the rules, but something is holding him back. He transferred from England so he's big news on campus. The reason for his drastic transfer, halfway through the school year, is still a mystery to the other students.
Gilbert:(Senior) The King of the Bad Touch Trio. He doesn't take part in any sports or school clubs but he is well liked by most of his peers. He is a bad boy hiding a desperate love of cute things. His oldest friend, Elizabeta, is the one one aware of his secret. He is a very loyal person and defends his friends with all the power that he has.
Francis:(Senior) The schools elected "Most likely to catch an STD." He's a bisexual playboy willing to give almost anyone a chance to be his "One True Love". However, he gets bored with people very easily so the search isn't going very well. A major drama(theater) geek. An amazing actor, but has a terrible singing voice.
Antonio:(Senior) The rich boy and finances of the BTT. Because of his families large donations to the school, he and his friends are mostly given free reign. At first glance he seems a little slow, but he is the top of his class and his lazy, goofy smile easily lulls his enemies into a false sense of security.
Alfred:(Junior) The "All American Boy" and Captain of the Baseball team. He uses his position as President of the Student Council to try and get his eccentric peers under control and enforce the school rules. He is extremely homophobic. Since Francis hit on him as a freshmen, the destruction of the BTT has been his top priority.
Mathew:(Junior) Alfred's, slightly older, twin brother. He's a usually quiet, studious boy. He was made Vice President of the Student Council by Alfred, even though he really wanted to join the drama club. Every year he audition's for the drama clubs fall play and doesn't get a role. But instead of quitting he works as part of the stage crew. He does not audition for the spring musical.
Ludwig:(Freshmen) As Gilbert's younger brother, many students believed that he would also be a bad boy. But Ludwig is very straight laced. Alfred attempted to coerce him into joining the Student Council as their freshmen rep. but Ludwig declined saying that he wouldn't fight against his brother. He has joined the Auto Club.
Feliciano:(Freshmen) Despite being best friends with Ludwig, he is lazy and unmotivated in most subjects. He rarely participates of his own free will except for when they are cooking in Home Ecc. He constantly flees PE, only for Ludwig to hunt him down and drag him back.
Lovino:(Sophomore) Feliciano's older brother. Despite being a good student most of the time, Lovino is argumentative and prone to fits of stubbornness. Many consider him a junior member of the BTT. Antonio is constantly stalking him through the hallways; scaring him into finding several hiding places throughout the school.
