Laser quick world update on me
So here's been the goings on in New York since it was gifted with my presence (did I spell that right? Go homeschooling):
4) Still looking for housing. I'm living with Matt Hodan and his room mate in their apartment crazy close to ground zero in lower manhattan. Matt and I are getting an apartment together for next year and a couple of leads just dried up but we are marching bravely on.
11) I've been lucky this far, since by freak chance both Peter and Mindy happened into NY this past week. So it was great to hang out with them. Still, that doesn't alter the fact that I need to make friends. I have a couple semi-friends that I made at the teacher test on saturday (which were both stunningly easy) and I have a big all teacher fellows thing on monday, so hopefully I'll be swimming in friends after that.
1) I've discovered this "antifolk" music scene here that seems to be almost exactly the kind of music I play. And get this, its one of the hippest and happeningest scenes in NY right now or something? So does that make me a tool or a hopeless hipster? Regardless, as soon as I can get a guitar into town I'm gonna go hit those mofos up. Some big names got their start in it, like Nellie McKay and a little someone you might have heard of by the name of Beck.
8) I wish I had money to buy comic books. I've found two of NY's preeminant comic shops and have been thoroughly impressed by both.
5) Still don't know what's going on with Rachael and Costa Rica. She may come to NY she may not, we'll just play the hand through and see where the cards lie. She has some pretty great opportunities in CR, so I'm trying to be as supportive as I can.
