Summary: Ryohei and Yamamoto finally had time to catch up after months on separate missions.

It was rare for the Rain and the Sun to be on the same battlefield these days. While they were both seasoned athletes in their teenage years, time had taken its effect on the Vongola boys. Their fighting styles did not match each other, as Sasagawa Ryohei fused his love of boxing in his battles while Yamamoto Takeshi had taken the path of the sword.

Ryohei would slightly frown as Yamamoto cleaned the blood off of his blade. Gone were the days of the cheerful baseball enthusiast as he embraced his hidden hitman abilities. The Sun Guardian only sighed as he stared at his bandaged and bloody fists then back to his badly bruised opponents, nursing their broken bones. He could only gulp as he compared them to the (sometimes fatal) cuts Yamamoto Takeshi's foes sustained and the blank stare on the Rain Guardian's face.

--------

"Say, Yamamoto, do you miss baseball?" Ryohei asked curiously as the two guardians found themselves slumped on a small Italian bar.

"Haha, what are you talking about?" the Rain Guardian replied as he downed another glass to burn his throat, "Of course I do. I was really torn for a while."

He still is, Ryohei thought, as he stared at those weary eyes. Ryohei hadn't seen his fellow friend for quite some time but he still knew what Yamamoto's gestures really meant behind that cheerful smile. He poured another glass as he stared at the scar on the younger man's chin, painfully symbolising that things were never the same again in what he first thought was a game.

"Say Sempai, you know what we haven't done in a while?"

"What?"

"Spar. Remember the old days?"

Ryohei laughed as he recalled the hours spent in the Vongola base's training room. Gokudera would always scoff at the two meat-heads as competitiveness took over most of the time. Yamamoto and Ryohei understood each other, as athletes, they had a certain spirit that stopped them from pulling back in any case. Kyoko would always complain on how the two boys stink, and force them to take a bath before getting any morsel of food.

--------

The room was a bit run-down, but it was good enough. Yamamoto's legs were still reeling from the drunken haze, forcing Ryohei to worry. "Are you sure, you're up for this?"

"Sure I am!" Yamamoto laughed, as he finally found his balance. "It would make this session more interesting, don't you think?"

Ryohei tightened the bandages on his hands with his teeth, as he smiled in response to Yamamoto's confident grin. He unbuttoned his Armani suit as he carefully placed it out of the way (it was an expensive suit after all, and he would have to report to the Boss tomorrow). The Rain guardian only whined on how he was taking so long, eager to start the battle with his whole suit intact.

"Well, you're the one who suggested using your real sword, idiot. Don't want to go to Sawada all cut-up," he shouted as he finally readied his stance. Yamamoto only responded with a quick lunge as he dragged his blade across the floor, before smoothly changing to an offensive attack.

This was child's play to Ryohei, as he easily dodged the tip of Shigure Kintoki. He was the only guardian to rely on his own body alone, free from any weapons but his fists, as he moved to lightly jab Yamamoto in the gut. He was impressed a slightly intoxicated Yamamoto step back just in time, as he moved his fists back in front of his face again.

"You rely on your sword too much these Takeshi," Ryohei taunted as Takeshi actually cursed and blamed that drink he was convinced Ryohei forced him to take. Ryohei's shirt was still unscathed as he rubbed the slight graze in his cheek. He had trained his body all his life, and gained more experience serving under the Vongola Boss, his body was more used to the sting of pain and the small details that many ignore during the adrenalin rush of a fight.

There were some harsh truth in Ryohei's words though, as he was extremely worried about the Rain Guardian's future. After all, the Rain Guardian's role was be the requiem rain- he was worried he would turn to a cold-blooded killer soon enough. He was observant enough that the kind sparkle in the Yamamoto's eyes had long faded as he was used to the idea of taking lives- by accident or otherwise.

Ryohei's minds went back to reality as blood finally dripped down from his cheek. "Oi! Hana's going to go off at me again!!" he shouted as he dodged in time to deflect Yamamoto's next strike. The next slash managed to cut Ryohei's tie in half, much to his disappointment and horror (He's going to be toast when he gets home to Japan). He must have sworn Yamamato was trying to shred his shirt to pieces.

"That's it, you're going down to the extreme!" a raging Ryohei roared as he pointed angrily at the smiling swordsman. The air on the room was tense as they took a step towards each other, skillfully dodging each other's moves and searching for chances to strike. It wasn't until Ryohei avoided a wide slash that he moved in for the kill, and manage to land a blow straight onto Yamamoto's gut, knocking the wind out of the Rain guardian.

Victorious, Ryohei offered his hand to help Yamamoto up, who only sighed in humiliation. "Too early to beat me kid," he chuckled, as he handed the sword back to Takeshi, but not before staring him straight in his eyes.

"Don't let these missions take over you, Yamamoto. You may have given up the bat for now, but don't get too caught up with this blade."

Yamamoto only responded with a sincere smile as he took the katana, placing it into its sheath. "It's not fair Sempai, you get to enjoy your sport while fighting, haha."

"Ditch the sword and join the boxing fad!" he shouted as both men slowly made their way out the door. The sun had cleared the heavy rain for now.

"Only if you beat me in kendo."
