I've had this dream before. It's still strange---to see my mother and sisters so far away.

I wonder if things have changed.

What dream did you have?

One of a place calling itself City---with a carousel and as many people it seemed as I've seen on the whole of the world below. Pocketed though, as if circled in by an invisible line.

There was someone who knew me----a boy.

Tristan, I think.

I didn't believe him at the time, but when I think of it as a dream again, it makes sense. Doesn't it? Or are people dreams and star dreams different?

I see... I don't know anyone named Tristan, but you aren't dreaming now... It does sound like a dream when you say it like that, though. This is a different world entirely...

Is Tristan someone you knew from before?

He thought that I ought to----know him, that is.

How do you know it isn't a dream?

[ Maybe she's arrived before, Tyr thought. He's heard of that, but never met someone who did before. ]

Because you don't wake up from it... And dreams don't usually have people that knew you from the future.

Oh.

[Pause as she thinks that one over...]

It's confusing, isn't it?

Yeah... It's hard to really say for sure, but that's the best theory there is so far... I don't think there's another way to explain what happens here.

You're very calm about it. But it is kind of an adventure, isn't it?

I've watched quite a few of them.

If you're always worked up over something, you'll be burnt out by the time you can react... But what do you mean by "an adventure"?

Well this isn't exactly like what I've seen. I imagine if they were to go elsewhere for their journeys I wouldn't see them at all.

But it's...experiencing things you haven't experienced and being exposed to situations you might not have, if you hadn't embarked...or in this case, dreamed [pause as she recalls it ISN'T a dream...] or...simply found yourself somewhere new. Or I think that is what it is. I could be wrong.

I've never been able to ask.

I... don't really understand... I guess that is a meaning of what an adventure is, but...

Anyway, how do you see adventures? You don't think this is like a story, do you? [ There is someone he can think of that does this, but doesn't really want to believe she does, too. ]

Well, everything is a story in its own way.

But by seeing, I mean more that...well, that's all I can do usually---watch.

I'm too far away to...well, to have my own. But, [brightly] that's how it is supposed to be. Bad things happen to fallen stars. Well, from what I've heard.

Ah... By your definition, then, you're able to do more than simply watch now... You should still be careful, though. Bad things happen to people here even if they aren't "fallen stars".

What kind of bad things?

[She may be a bit worried now. The post of Evening Star is important, and she's a little too young to be messing that up so early on.]

There are monsters here that can attack people, but they're pretty easy to avoid... What's more important are the curses. You can't really avoid them per se, but you should always check what people say on this before you leave... They can make people violent or delusional, and can be annoying at best.
