Well, it's the end of the year now, so I suppose I ought to wish all y'all a happy new one!

"A Year in Review"

The Reader sat in front of the empty fire pit, idly stirring the ashes that rested there. Night was falling; lacking a fire to warm himself and without a shelter of any kind to his name, he remained where he was. Life. What worth did it have in this time of trials? Why, only yesterday his horse had sickened and died, leaving him afoot.
But as he sat despondently, a writer came forth out of the darkness and set into the empty pit a single sheet of paper. As quickly as it appeared, the writer vanished; Reader was left alone again. With some apprehension, he reached out into the pit and snagged the page that had fallen there. But alas, it seemed as though the very nature of the world were against him-- he could no more read any script in the darkness than he could fly over the mountains under his own power.
In his hour of need, a friendly hand brought a torch and friendly arms carried wood. A blaze was kindled and Reader huddled down to absorb as much of the heat as the pleasant flames would provide. He then hunched forward to read what was written on the page, only to find to his surprise that it was blank. There were a few crossed out words, but they had no soul to breath life into them. Reader sighed and sat back for a time, contemplating his situation.
Suddenly an idea came to him; picking up the worn stick coated with ash, Reader began to write. And as he wrote, some of the words came to life and began to dance around the clearing making the place shine with life. Reader continued to write until the dash of inspiration left him, and when he finally looked up, the clearing was filled with writers and their wondrous words.
So what was life worth?
With so many friends writing their hearts out, it's worth quite a bit!
