(Adventure Log!) The Monsters In The Basement
The elevater reaches the basement of the castle. The feint sounds of construction can still be heard as Riou and Tir step into the darkest passages of the basement.
Riou: It's pretty dark down here, we're looking for a cavern opening....the castle supposedly is linked to one.
Tir: *nods* Alright. What kind of monsters do you expect to find down here?
Riou: Well.....once I was exploring Two-River in a sewer...it was pretty dark like this as well and....uh....well we ran into a twenty foot....demon rat.
Riou: Hopefully...there's nothing like that down here. But....larger monsters are usually in darker areas.
Tir: *nods* We'll manage. We've taken down bigger things before.
Riou: *nods back* Indeed....though I wonder how much stronger the monsters here are.
Tir: Well, I guess we'll find out soon enough.
Riou: *nods and continues walking in silence, until he hears a loud and unhuman like roar off in the distance*
Tir: So, should we just nuke it, or start with actual exercise? *readies his staff*
Riou: Probably a little of both. *Unstraps his tonfa and readies them with a spin*
Tir: *raises an eyebrow* Have you forgotten what happened to that moth? *another inhuman roar from the shadows* Gee, impatient, isn't it?
Riou: *leans back a little at the roar, aggravated* Ha, that thing just wouldn't go down. *The roar is basically upon them now, and in a ground shaking landing, a chimera appears to them both, three different animal heads, snake, lion, and goat*
Riou: *the beast flaps it's wings furiously, roaring about with it's three heads, creating a small amount of actual wind in the room*
Tir: *backs off to ready his staff for the Double Hero attack* Ready.
Riou: *steps around until he's next to Tir* Let's do it.
Tir: *in tandem with Riou, leaps to the top, and runs on the roof a little, using the staff to support him a bit as he gets behind the Chimera to strike it from behind*
Riou: *moves with Tir, and rolls on the floor like a bowling ball toward the Chimera, popping up in front of it as Tir lands behind it*
Riou: Now! *Riou jumps up in front of the heads and whirls his tonfa, rapidly slapping two of the heads with cracking strikes*
Tir: *tir leaps over and with a spin of his staff, hits the spine of the Chimera and then the center head, then uses that force of the hit to leap over Riou as they trade places*
Riou: *flies under Tir and uses both hands to swing off of his legs from under him, toward the chimera's back, performs thudding double stomp on the spot that Tir had just whacked with his staff in it's spine, Riou then backflips towards the center head Tir just struck, still on the chimera's back*
Riou: *when he reaches the center head while flipping backward he leaps back in front of it and delivers a spinning kick straight across it's face, he then backpedals until he's next to Tir*
Riou: Nice! But I think it's mad! *The chimera seems to be gathering different color flames in each of it's mouths*
Tir: No kidding! *he starts spinning his staff as fast as he could, using it as a shield.*
Riou: Whoa! *Green, blue, and red flames twist across the room toward them both, Riou dodges a jet of blue fire by jumping over it narrowly*
Tir: Yeah... *the Red flames hits Tir's staff, but doesn't go through* Time to finish this up. *his right hand begins to glow*
Riou: *Riou is busy performing a spinning kick that slaps the blue fire that the snake head is spitting at him* Alright, let's make sure the job gets done then. *Raises his own right hand as it begins to glow a limelight color* [Battlefield!] *Bright blue light twists and explodes into the area, distracting the chimera as it stops spitting flames, beams of blue light shoot up from under Tir and Riou, and both of their magical powers are amplified*
Tir: *reaches out with his hand* Black Shadow! *the dark and radiating orb of shadow errupts with the Chimera at the center, and with Battlefield's power augmenting Black Shadow, the Chimera's flesh rips apart till only the skeleton and it's treasure remain*
Riou: *Riou keeps his spell channeled as Tir unleashes his, suddenly the soft blue glow of battlefield is replaced by the violent and dark energies of Tir's rune, in mere moments it's over, and Riou lowers his hand and the glowing ceases from it*
Riou: ......Wow, that worked well.
Tir: *Tir lowers his hand as well* "Yeah...I'm afraid what I'd do if I pop Judgement out. I'd probrobly destroy the entire castle."
Riou: ............Probably so. The last time I used Forgiver Sign it destroyed the entire area we were in.....and when I saw you use Judgment......it seemed even worse than that.
Tir: *frowns with a slight smirk* Don't remind me about that moth.
Riou: *grins with worried eyes* The caterpillar was enough for me........
Tir: *walks over to the remains of the chimera and it's treasure* Let's see what we got here.
Riou: *follows him over and stops short of the large treasure box now there amongst it's remains* I seriously think monsters love to eat treasure chests. *Kneels down and cranks both the locks open and pushes it open with a grunting lift*
Tir: *takes a look at the treasure inside* That might be interesting sometime down the line to try and figure out all the stuff monsters do. Why do they eat treasure and attack people mindless? Why do they very from the holly berries to the ghost knights and mirages?
Riou: It kind of seems like they all come from the same place.......*Rumages through the treasure alongside Tir, holds up a Flowing crystal* Hey....this....*extends it out to Tir* Don't you like water magic?
Tir: *whistles* "Nice. Well, let's worry about splitting it up later, see what else we can get. I got a few more fights in me. Besides, we'll need a rune sage to get anywhere with that."
Riou: Fair enough, let's keep moving then. *Stands back to his feet with a nod* Back to what you were saying......maybe we could take up careers as monster hunters....or begin some form of monster business. *Walking quietly and carefully, notices that the basement stretches into a long rock hallway in front of them*
Tir: *nods* Teaching people about how monsters fight...yeah, that's good one. With all the monsters here, it'd be a good place to...*loose rocks tumble to the ground as Tir stops*...and here's some more.
Riou: Hmmm...maybe we could clear the basement out...add some light...capture some of the monsters here to train people......*sees the rumbling and tumbling of rocks up ahead* Where there's one....there's ten.
Tir: *nod* Ants. Not very strong...but the Queen Ant is. *glances up, and motions to Riou that the ants are above them*
Riou: *looks up at the ceiling, sees the bunches of rather large ants crawling towards them on it* I guess I'll get them down, a boost if you would? *backs up a few paces and nods to Tir's staff, before running toward Tir*
Tir: *lays one end of the staff down and uses it to prepell Riou up to the roof and the ants*
Riou: *turns his body rightside down as he flies upward and lands with a ceiling shaking crash, upside down for a few moments, the ants begin tumbling to the ground like rain*
Tir: *Tir spins the staff and starts flicking off ants left and right* Alright, Riou, you gun for the Queen Ant, and I'll keep these guys busy.
Riou: *Nods as he lands to the ground, he uses his landing momentum and springs forward, weaving through the ants Tir is smacking around like baseballs to the Queen Ant in the back, he leaps at her with a battle cry and whirls both his tonfa furiously, he lets out two snapping blows at her head before landing and performing a sweep kick at ONE of her legs to attempt to throw her off balance, however she begins stamping all eight of her legs furiously to try and impale Riou who is underneath her*
Tir: *he spins his staff with his left hand and raises his right hand again* Hell! *around Tir the black vortex opens up and ant after ant starts finding their way inside it...and the Queen Ant feels the pull as well*
Riou: *rolls out from underneath her as Tir's spell begins, the twisting vortex begins pulling ants in it from left to right, the Queen Ant begins to drag slowly across the floor, screeching and trying to dig her sharp large legs into the floor for traction* Oh no you don't! *Riou begins spinning his tonfa and jumps up to her midsection, he then performs a backflip kick straight to her lower ant face that sends her reeling backward off balance, right into Tir's vortex*
Tir: *the vortex closes as the Queen Ant falls in, and the only thing that remains is the vast treasures the ant colony left behind. Tir gasps a moment as he cracked a smile* I think we're going to need a bigger bag.
Riou: *lands to the ground at a kneel from his backflip kick, stands and begins stepping over and through all the treasure sprawled everywhere* Uhhh...I think you're right!
