This is something to keep readers occupied while I’m trying to get over my writer’s block and finish that supernatural fic as well as the one I promised as a present.
I could feel my heart thumping at twice the normal speed as I headed into the building. As I forced my feet to move me forward, I hoped that you would love what I’ve picked out especially for you.
‘God, I feel like such a coward,’ I thought as I fought to stop my own hand from smacking my forehead in frustration.
I sneaked around, deeply hoping that I could avoid you for as long as I could. I needed to brace myself in case you decided I wasn’t good enough for you - not your type. ‘Oh gosh, you’d have no idea how much that thought frightens me so.’ Randomly, I wondered how many times I have heard that coming from you to other unsuspecting admirers. After all, you were the one who pretty much ruled the school - unlike me.
Leaning against the wall in the corridor, I stopped to wonder if I loved you enough to confess to you. Was I really willing to risk making my presence known to you? I mean, you have all the power in the school to make my life a living hell if you wanted to. I mean, it’s true that school itself is already a form of hell but if this fails, what would be the punishment for me? Would hell on Earth be lovelier as long as you recognised me - even if your purpose was to end my existence? Taking a deep breath, I steeled myself and continued the journey to your door, a nervous smile plastered on my face - the one I used every time I were to make a life-changing decision.
So much for steeling myself; the second I reached your door, standing there with my hand ready to knock, my legs weakened and I froze once more. I was starting to over think things and often, that didn’t bode well for any situation therefore I simply took another deep breath to somewhat calm myself and immediately knocked, thus sealing my fate.
I was somewhat relieved albeit disappointed when there was no answer and even after waiting for ten minutes and knocking again, no one came to answer your door. I hesitated since I hated a wasted trip but seeing no other choice; I supposed I had to leave. Sighing, I turned to walk off but when I saw your familiar figure walking towards me - your door - the idea vanished from my mind. You looked up after finding your key and the smile that immediately graced your gorgeous lips blew me away, as how your smiles always do.
“Hyung, I didn’t expect to see you here. Was there something you wished to see me for?” you asked as your smile and that dimple that messed with my mind decorated your beautiful face. When I continued standing in front of you, pretty much neglecting your question, you shaped your lips into a slight pout, making my heart swoon as I choked up even more, if that was even possible.
I nodded, buying some time as I tried to make my voice box work once more. “They’re for you,” I automatically said out the first thing that came to mind - it was almost a shout - as I practically shoved the bouquet of flowers into your face. I must have startled you. You had a shocked look on your features and I cursed myself for being so abrupt and awkward.
It felt like years before I actually got a reaction. I could almost hear the usual rejection when -
I heard a chuckle coming from you then your lilting voice washed over me, calming me better than any of my own thoughts and encouragement, “Why don’t you come in first? Let me put down my groceries. I have eggs in them and I can’t risk dropping them, right?”
You had that adorable smile on your face once more before your features kind of transformed to accommodate a cheeky grin and in my mind, warning bells were ringing. You stepped forward and before I could even guess what you were planning, you brought up your hand that held your key. A finger was extended, pointing itself at me before you touched it to my chest, teasing me. Gasping, I backed away and accidentally hit my head on the doorframe, earning giggles from him.
“Come on,” you said in between giggles as you stepped into your apartment.
Relaxing a little - I had no idea I had been so tense in the first place - I nodded and followed you into your apartment. I asked you if you needed help keeping your groceries but instead, you shooed me away into the living room, presenting me with a wink and an “I’ll be out soon. Don’t go anywhere,” waggling his hips as he did so. You went into your kitchen while I hung around after I put the bouquet on your coffee table, afraid to touch anything in case my clumsiness might result in an accident with anything.
I was nearing a bunch of pictures in frames that sat on your mantel, curiosity overriding my caution when you called out from behind, scaring me and almost causing me to knock over your things in my haste but you’d already grabbed my arms to stop me from flailing and possibly hitting anything.
You moved your head to indicate that you were referring to the bouquet and said, “Is that, like, a confession?” I took my time to digest your question since I knew I might end up saying something stupid if I didn’t control myself and then with confidence that I had no idea I had, I nodded. However, it suddenly occurred to me that you might break my heart which only left me feeling worried once again.
The words that ultimately came out from your mouth took me by surprise. “Oh God, like finally!” you said with an unreadable expression before a huge smile broke over your features and you moved forward to capture my lips in a kiss. “I love you, hyung. I loved you since forever,” you breathed out and I revelled in how sweet your lips tasted against mine before we broke apart. Your eyes welled up and I received a warm hug from you as you snuggled yourself in my embrace.
As I returned your hug, I whispered in your ear, “I love you too, so much,” as my lips curled into a smile much like yours, a smile of pure happiness.
