Twenty Days to Deathly Hallows: Eight

08. What is your favorite chapter in each book?
Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone: Oh wow, it's a tie. I really can't pick. So, Diagon Alley and The Boy Who Lived. If I honestly had to choose for one, it'd probably be The Boy Who Lived. Because it's the chapter that started it all.

Chamber of Secrets: While I like The Chamber of Secrets, favorite chapter in CoS goes to The Burrow.

Prisoner of Azkaban: Oh wow... um... um... if I have to pick a single chapter, The Quidditch Final because THEY WIN THE CUP AND I AM SO HAPPY FOR WOOD. But all together it would be: Cat, Rat, and Dog; Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs; The Servant of Lord Voldemort; and The Dementor's Kiss. Those four chapters, where we first meet the Marauder backstory--and, without knowing it, learn a lot about Snape (since he's pissed at Sirius because he thinks Sirius is the reason Lily's dead, WHICH STILL BLOWS MY MIND READING THIS AFTER DH)--are amazing and wonderful, especially the beginning of The Dementor's Kiss where Sirius asks Harry if he'd like to come live with him. TEARS.

Goblet of Fire: Ugh... I really don't like Goblet of Fire, if you couldn't tell. I guess either The Yule Ball or Flesh, Blood, and Bone.

Order of the Phoenix: THERE ARE SO MANY FLAWLESS CHAPTERS I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. The one that stands out to me, though, is Career Advice, because we get BAMF McGonagall toward Umbridge (though it's the chapter after we get "It unscrews the other way.") and we get Fred and George's glorious exit! However, I absolutely adore the chapter Christmas on the Closed Ward, because we get some humor and some seriousness all wrapped into one. It's great. And we get Neville. I like Neville, especially when he's showing his true Gryffindor side. And keeping his mother's gum wrappers, which pains me to read because wow, what he went through... must have gone through... I also love all of the battles at the end (and The Lost Prophecy with Harry's screaming breaks my heart, as does The Second War Begins with him asking Nick about becoming a ghost... oh wow...) but yeah. I JUST LOVE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX AS A BOOK.

Half-Blood Prince: Even though Sectumsempra is painful to read, I love the Harry/Ginny kiss. They're not my favorite pairing ever, but that kiss was wonderful. I don't think that as a chapter is my favorite, though. Probably The Cave ("I am with you." TEARS FOREVER) or The White Tomb.

Deathly Hallows:  DEFINITELY The Forest Again and there were a LOT of great chapters in Deathly Hallows. The Forest Again is my all-time favorite chapter of any Potter book. It is so beautiful and heart-wrenching, even before he meets his parents again. You see Neville and Oliver and Ginny--still kids--helping, picking up the pieces, taking charge. You see the representation of innocence dead: "He was tiny in death." You follow Harry as he goes to make the ultimate sacrifice, just like Lily did for him. You are allowed to witness what I bet is the most important moment in Harry's entire life, the moment where he meets his parents and Sirius and Lupin again. He forgives Lupin and Lupin really sums up WHY they are fighting the war: to give the future generations a better chance. (Which is why Harry must choose to come back as well.) You watch as they--and YOU--stick with Harry "until the very end." And you witness Harry, giving himself up, selflessly, for others. He may be fictional, but it's an incredible chapter to read.
