So, having a three day weekend last weekend, I decided to make the best of it. My good friend Stef had been asking me to come see her in Chicago as soon as I got a chance. She wasn't free until Friday afternoon, but I decided to go for it. I spent Thursday night, after work, at my Grandma's house, so I could take off for Chi-town from a point closer than Wilmore. It took me about 6 hours to get there from Grandma's, and I must admit, I LIKE CHICAGO!
Of all the big cities I've been to, it was the nicest, most fun, and easiest to drive in. Visiting Stef was a total blast, too. The general run down of the trip, from when I got there about 6:30pm local time, Friday evening, is as follows....
Quick Chicago-style hot dog dinner upon arrival,
Free showing of a very cool comedy play after, at the conservatory she studies at,
Drinkin' wine up on the roof-deck of her building until we rolled back downstairs to settle into bed about 1am.
Next day started with a shower,
Very fancy Thai lunch, at $9 no less,
On to spend 2 hours around the Lakeshore,
Then to a Yule Feast and Ritual that lasted until 10:30pm!!
That was followed with a very interesting party we were at until like 3:30am.
I grogged out of bed sometime around 11am Sunday, but didn't have it in me to leave until like 2 in the afternoon. I already miss Stef, and Chicago, and the new people I met there.
Peace, love, and joy to you all, friends! ---Nikki
