After almost two months of craziness at work, things have finally calmed down enough for me to reclaim my weekends - or at least, this past weekend. In my free time I like scanning websites of artists I like to see if there are any concerts coming up, and luckily enough there was Chatmonchy in Zepp Tokyo! Had an good time hanging out with friends around VenusFort before the concert started...then off for some good music!
Ham/egg/cheese crepe! I'd never eaten a non-dessert crepe before but this was really really really good. I decidedly love it as much as dessert crepes <3
But anyway....straight onto the main part - LIVE REPORT!
The masses waiting to get into the concert hall...

I'm not particularly a huge fan of Chatmonchy, and I only recently started listening to their music, but I do really really enjoy their stuff since I got into them, so I decided to go see them live.
Overall - awesome! It was a bit irritating because I am short and since Zepp Tokyo is a live house, there were no giant monitors to help me see what was going on stage...I probably only managed to SEE about 10% of the concert, but what matters is what you can hear, right?? I've found that I can gauge just how much I've enjoyed a concert by how much I'm spurred to listen (or even sing!) that artist's songs the times following the concert. It's been three days now and I still can't stop listening to their stuff!
Not so unexpected, but generally a younger crowd (lots and lots and lots of students!) who were overly hyper and jumpy. Being the old lady I am, I just kinda stood around. Both Chatmonchy and their music seem really genuine and honest, so I felt like it's really easy to enjoy their music. They give a good performance, are comfy on stage - I particularly enjoy their bassist (she's hot!).
I can't say much more than that since I couldn't see anything (T_T) so...videos! I definitely recommend Chatmonchy - they're one of the best Japanese girl bands out there.

"Somaru Yo" - I get the feeling that I've posted this song before. I couldn't find the music video, so this is a TV performance. A friend had always bugged me to listen to Chatmonchy, but I'd never bothered because they had a weird name (haha honestly)! Sometime after coming to Japan last year, I was looking for good new music, and coincidentally Chatmonchy had just released this song as their latest single. One listen, and I was in love. This performance gets a little pitchy in some places, but still over all good.

"Shangrila" - happy rock! Shortly after my addiction to "somaru yo," I was wandering around a shop in Harajuku when this song came on. The vocalist has a unique enough voice for me to easily figure out it was Chatmonchy - and this is the song that had me sold. Enjoy!
Taking a half day off work tomorrow to see another concert! Gotta enjoy while I can because I know the end of this month is gonna be crazier than ever. Anyway, hope that everyone's doing well!
