(AGU in America) Day 1: Arrival

Aug 02, 2006 23:00

Students from Aoyama Gakuin in Japan are doing a short two week study abroad, and I'm working as their student tour guide type person, so I decided I was gonna try and write about it here. Maybe practice for when I go to Japan? XD

While we were actually supposed to meet the students at Dulles around 11:30, their flight was delayed almost 4 hours, and they didn't actually arrive until about 3pm. After finally getting out of customs, we got the group together, and I talked to some of the twenty students. They all seemed pretty nice and happy, albeit tired from the super long death flight. >_<

We divided into three groups for the shuttle buses, and my group was Miki, Hiromi (F), Eriko, Kaoru, Shohei, and Fumi. In case you're wondering about why I had to put "Hiromi (F)," that's because there are two Hiromi Satohs on this trip. XDD When I talked to the guy Hiromi (he looks like T.M. Revolution!!!! XD), he said "I am man Hiromi. She is women Hiromi." mwahahaha.

The trip back to CP was pretty good, though I got pretty tried trying to talk a lot and having to turn around for long periods of time to talk to them. After about an hour of rest, we gathered the group again for dinner. To our surprise, about half of the group went for Noodles and Company while the other half went to Chipotle's (which were the two choices we'd offered up). Why do the Japanese divide themselves up so completely from boys/girls? There's like a secret wall...>_>;

We showed them to Holzapfhesoihfal Hall where their class is, and after some picture taking, and pointing out a couple other things to them, we retired back to the hotel because of the death heat wave.
