It's not often that you see someone in Aburame Shino's lap.
Actually, it's not often that you see someone within the personal space of the said Konoha ninja, not (only) because of his boringly silent behavior, not (only) because of his rather aloof stance, but also because of his precious bugs.
Girls would warily regard him in fear of getting those chakra-eating insects near their carefully-styled hairdos and neatly-ironed dresses. Boys would leave him alone quickly because of his apparent disinterest with their rowdy laughter and obnoxious topics.
It's also not really often that you see Shino in a birthday party, or any sort of gathering that involved lots of people.
But today, in Uzumaki Naruto's birthday, he attended the party, in veiled support of their blond batchmate. He also, secretly, wanted to confirm the rumors regarding the energetic male and his so-called rival-slash-best-friend.
It's also not often that you see Shino playing the age-old party game of Musical Chairs. Groans received Iruka-sensei's suggestion of this game, but since they saw his brown eyes tearing up, they all agreed with the idea anyway.
That very game was the reason everybody was gaping, jaws slackened and eyes widened, at Shino, because it really is not right to see somebody perched on his lap. Even the person, his teammate Inuzuka Kiba, sounded disbelieving of the situation, if the sputtering sounds were of any indication.
But since nobody really knows what the no-eyeball teen's thoughts are, everybody continued to gape dumbly when Shino made a fateful move.
…It's not often that you see someone making out with Shino while perched on his lap.
