Rupaul's Drag Race Alstars 7: Episode 11...

Jul 30, 2022 10:01

Before we get into the gig…
This weekend was really, really stressfully sad.

^Here are the main parts. See? Stressfully sad. Kai was in here just bawling his eyes out over not only the dark lord, (Oh, and tho' I haven't mentioned it in YEARS, come to find out, the dark lord felt the need to tell Kai that even tho' their grandma calls the baby that passed away Baby Lawrence, that wasn't the baby's 1st name because I named him... Bruh, what is going on across the pond?! I haven't thought about this is FOREVER. I did explain the situation as best as I could tho'... I explained ALOT of stuff the best I could *sobs in parenting*) but Player 456. It's depressing really. So depressing that I woke up crying and had to call my Aunt Carroll to sort myself out (Emotionally speaking… My family may get on my last nerve, but sometimes I need my mommy too 😭😭😭) so I could decide what I wanted to do with the day. I landed on dying Kai's hair, watching Drag Race with Mo and curling up to BTS with Laurynn. (Cuz my baby is an ARMY 😭😭😭)
Trust and believe that at least 30mins of therapy today will be spent on this mess.
And now…
This week is the talent show. Why they did it now instead of at the top of the season, I dunno, but I don't think that really matters in the long run. I like it now. I like it then. I like it here. I like it there. Either way, Imma like it cuz these are winners and these winners are so damn talented that this season feels like a fever dream. Over in the Twitterverse, Trinity was saying that they edited out alot of the criticism the queens got this season (Which apparently includes Raja calling out Michelle and demanding she be fired 😳😳😳) and she didn't know why. I think I do. For alot of people, seeing these queens at their best feels like a warm blanket. No drama. Which means that despite the lyrics to RuPaul's song, "Blame It On The Edit", this show is proving that you actually can control an edit and that song, tho' a bit of a bop, is also full of shit *laughs*
I already knew Shea was gonna win in some way this episode cuz per Walking Dead rules, we were seeing entirely too much of her face this episode. My only problem is the journey that led to Shea being in the finale. I remember the episode of The Pitstop where Bob TDQ made the joke that Shea was gonna trip and fall into a bag of stars and I'll be damned if that's not what happened this episode! Don't get me wrong, I love me some Shea and her talent show felt more like an excerpt from a concert, rather than the Drag Race stage… It's just, yeah, she should have won and then they had some sort of tie breaker for all the queens with two stars. That or the final four could have easily been Monét, Jinkx, Jaida/The Vivienne/Trinity with the ladies with three stars lipsyncing for a spot in the finale. Instead we were treated to them basically handing Shea her spot then them having the audacity to make Monét pick who else was going into the finale alongside her between Jaida and Trinity… Um, was there ever a moment where anybody thought Monét wasn't gonna pick Trinity? They've been riding this alliance train the whole season! That shit had better pay off! I don't even know why Drag Race decided to pull out the dramatic music. What a waste! If Monét had said anything but "Trinity", I probably would have fell out in here… That's how certain I was.
Oh! Oh!
Your final four are officially Shea, Monét (Whose going into the finale with her own bag of stars cuz she and Shea won the talent show and we'll get to exactly why soon. For now, just know that their lipsync was top tier. I kinda want the footage of Monét lifting her leg tho'. Did she mess up on that move or did they just edit that part weirdly? Also, the middle of this lipsync looked like Monét and Shea were dancing together, kinda like they'd practiced this in the back, off camera or some shit. It was amazing! Best lipsync of the season!), Jinkx and Trinity with the other four queens competing for a separate crown called the She Done Already Done Had Hers crown (They did a bit about it only being $49,000 with Michelle pulling out that final $1000 from her bra… Hell, she better or Raja might eat her) so at least the other queens still get to compete. I still think this season should have been for a million dollars. I also think they missed the opportunity to have Bob TDQ and Monét on the same season. *sighs* Missed opportunities. You can't tell me that watching them bicker like 3yr olds for 10episodes cuz Bob doesn't know how to be wrong wouldn't be entertaining. I love Sibling Rivalry/Watchery/Whatever they do cuz I love them so much (Speaking of Bob, last night I dreamed that I was at an airport and by the loading area, there he was! I woke up before I could shake his hand cuz the universe is a cruel place 😭😭😭)
And now…

^Queen (The didn't have a runway this week so I'm rating their performance outfits. With that being said, I adore this 💜💜💜)
Talent show: The best part was her getting sweet tea dumped on herself like countrified wet t-shirt contest

^Queen (Did I mention Imma miss this season when it's over?)
Talent show: Jinkx did what Jinkx is good at: Performing for the prohibition era

^Knight (I've seen so many good looks from her this season. I like elements of this, but there are parts I'm not a fan of)
Talent show: With the understanding that Yvie is losing her abilities due to her illness, I just wanna say I'm glad she decided to give Drag Race one last go. According to her page, the first take of this, she fell on her neck. I'm just glad she's okay! As you all know, I've always been a Yvie supporter. I love her. Always have, always will 💚💚💚

^Queen (I kinda want one of these)
Talent show: There we're alot of lipsync numbers for this talent show and tho' I do consider it a talent and I enjoyed this, I miss when there was more variety to these

^Goddess (OMC 💜💜💜)
Talent show: I appreciate Raja for all that she is and so much more. This was a beautiful tribute to her heritage. She told this story about being 3 and her dad finding her doing this dance while they were at an airport. Parents, if your child is part of the community, support who they are and will ever be. You never know how your love will fuel their adulthood

^Queen (This is gorgeous and moved great with her choreography)
Talent show: When she said a mix between Janet Jackson and Luther Vandross, I dunno what I was picturing, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't this. This felt like it belonged on a concert stage somewhere. I agree with her win, I just didn't like the 3stars angle

^Goddess (Monét looked so beautiful)
Talent show: This... This is the same person who did "Soak It Up" as her talent in Alstars 4 (And they made sure to throw that horrible ass clip up there just in case you forgot) I saw people posting that she lipsynced and tho' I'm sure she didn't, even if she did, this is freaking Drag Race! Who the fuck cares?! People spend entirely too much time racking on others when they could be getting their talents up. Shit, while you're worried about Monét, let's see your resume. WHAT CAN YOU DO?!

^Knight (*shrugs* Maybe it's because this isn't blue. I dunno)
Talent show: Song was a'ight. It was a solid safe
*sighs* I already spoiled the end of this episode so yes, we're done here BUT show some love for Monét and Shea's lipsync one more time
💜 LOVE 💜
